Greeley Native, U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel and full-fledged birther Terry Lakin is refusing to deploy to Afghanistan until he sees evidence he can believe in that Pres. Obama is a natural born citizen of the United States. Lakin released a YouTube last week speaking in familiar talk-radio terms about his doubts regarding the president’s citizenship and his legitimacy as commander in chief. Today he received a letter from his brigade commander warning that he faced court marshal and time in prison. This would be Lakin’s second deployment to Afghanistan. He is fundraising for his legal defense, he says, looking to raise $50,000 by the end of the week. His Greeley relatives are putting distance between themselves and his birther campaign.
Lakin’s father Frank told the Greeley Tribune Friday that his son’s video wasn’t representative of the family. “This does not reflect the opinions or the attitude of the family by any means,” he said. “We’re Obama supporters.”
There have been a handful of soldiers in the last year who have refused to deploy for the same reason. Their cases have gone nowhere and have inspired little confidence. In July, Major Stefan Frederick Cook volunteered to deploy to Afghanistan and then refused and hired infamous birther lawyer Orly Taitz to represent him in a federal suit he filed against the president. But volunteers are under no order to deploy and so his request was merely rescinded.

It talks about “native born” not “natural born” which misstates Lt. Col. Lakin’s whole argument.
I did hear the segment and was puzzled. He clearly is aware of the BC issue and has made a decision not to discuss it, so to play that clip and then just move on seemed a little unusual for the Great One.
I can only offer my opinion as to why he played the clip. It sounded like a good natured "tweek" the same way Rush slips a "birther tweek" in on rare occasion. Neither is a birther, but on the other hand, since the majority of their listeners are conservatives, and since birthers are more than likely conservatives, what would be the upside to publicly ridiculing some percentage of their loyal audience?
Among their loyal listeners, this is a divisive issue, and I'm sure they think that discussing it at length and in depth will further polarize their audience, fanning the flames of an internal party squabble for the amusement of the left-wing press.
I just don't think there is a good reason for Levin or Rush to bring it up.

If someone not the President snuck into the Oval Office and signed some bill, order or whatever, or made a phone call, which resulted in military action, that would be unlawful orders, since the person doing the initial order is not the real President.
Well, 0bama is not a real President. So his orders are not lawful. He’s not real because he doesn’t meet the Constitutional eligibilty requirement, in at least one way and maybe more.
I’m just tagging along behind, trying to catch up. Lakin is a hero! I just hang around here nipping heels occasionally and trying to learn stuff.

I don’t see how that was deserved.
They’re getting a bit snarly, indeed. I think Lt.Col. Lakin is freaking out their handlers. I also think it possible that Lakin’s family got a message and seem to be disavowing their son. It’s a strange way to react, even if they didn’t agree with his political viewpoint. You’d think they’d say something supportive of their son even if they didn’t agree.
Either that or they’re like my family...
I imagine that you are absolutely correct and I hope that Larkin is pursuing this for the right reasons. It is just so frustrating that we can’t seem to find who the courts will accept as having “standing” in this issue and I think we all would like to believe that Lt. Col. Larkin might have been the one.

You got part of it right - it's Courts M-A-R-T-I-A-L. Courts Martial (not Marshial).
