The Institute for Race Relations reports that there's hundreds of thousands of young whites missing in South Africa. Newsweek also reports on the mass exodus of white, skilled families, asking: 'why are the brightest leaving this most successful state?"
The South African Institute for Race Relations says this week that the young white men -- aged 24 to 34 have mostly left the country now, and that there now are many more older white men than younger ones - when the reverse is the case in normal societies without wars.
There are two main reasons for this demographic oddity: the relentless murder campaign waged by heavily-armed, well organised black male gangs against white farmers: the latest murder toll is 3,038; together with the mass exodus of white, working-age families from South Africa ever since 1994 -- and which Digital Journal has also often reported about just recently.
This week's Newsweek feature article by Scott Johnson , headlined "Fleeing from South Africa,' asks: ' Fourteen years after apartheid, why are the best and the brightest leaving Africa's most successful state?" He writes: "The South African government doesn't keep reliable emigration statistics. But even as the global financial crisis has caused emigration from most other countries to slow, a number of recent independent studies show that mass departures from South Africa are ongoing and are sapping the nation of its skilled and best-educated young citizens.
"The most dramatic figures can be found among South African whites, who are leaving at a pace consistent with the advent of "widespread disease, mass natural disasters or large-scale civil conflict," according to a report by the South African Institute on Race Relations," he writes.
Destruction of an entire ethnic minority:
What Newsweek doesn't say however, is that more than 90% of all those 'whites' who have left, are actually Afrikaans-speakers, close-knit, often deeply religious members of a very distinct ethnic minority who view themselves as an independent nation, with their own language, culture and a very unique history. This exodus of 'whites' thus also marks the dissipation, the destruction of an entire ethnic minority in South Africa which has lived there since the 17th century.
The young generation of Afrikaners is being forced out of the country of their birth, and not only face the heartbreak of leaving their beloved continent behind them forever, but also having to leave their aging parents behind.
Newsweek continues:
"Some 800,000 out of a total white population of 4 million have left since 1995, by one count," he reports, adding: : "...this wasn't supposed to happen.. but (emigration) has been accentuated by a violent crime epidemic, serious political upheaval and economic globalization. A poll conducted last May among 600 people of different races, ages and genders (in South Africa) found that 20 percent were leaving the country'.
Crime, murders, rapes:
Sheepfarmer Johnny Cilliers in South Africa discovered his lawyer-dad tortured to death at his smallholding on February 16 2009. The dad, a lawyer who works at Cullinan law court, was hogtied, strangled, tortured and shot three times - in one of the many murders targetting white Afrikaners in South Africa since 1994.
"The primary driver for emigration among all groups, but especially whites (...) is fear of crime. With more than 50 killings a day, South Africa has one of the highest per capita murder rates in the world."
He continues: "The same goes for rape —ranking the country alongside conflict zones such as Sierra Leone, Colombia and Afghanistan."
Future Fact polling indicates that more than 95 percent of those eager to leave South Africa rate violent crime as the single most important factor affecting their thinking. )
Lynette Chen, the ethnic-Chinese CEO of Nepad Business Group, is the only member of her family left in South Africa. Her parents departed in 2002 after being carjacked—twice. Her brother, also a victim of crime, followed suit shortly thereafter. "They're always getting homesick," she says. "But they won't come back unless the crime is reduced."
White farmers attacked:
"Another largely unnoticed problem is the growing number of attacks on South Africa's white farmers. As in neighbouring Zimbabwe, some ... appear to be racially motivated. The result is that white farmers' numbers continue to decrease...' (see our previous report here) "Then there's the problem of affirmative action, which many whites feel limits their opportunities for advancement and which keeps many émigrés from returning. "You can attract people home, but there are still the same concerns when they get here," Chen says. "Crime and lack of job opportunities if you're not the right color." see
The SAIRR spokesman Frans Cronjé slammed the Newsweek article's as 'putting South African in a poor light', especially over its comment that 'white South Africans leave the country at a pace consistent with the advent of "widespread disease, mass natural disasters or large-scale civil conflict,"
However, he also felt that the Newsweek article raised a very important issue, and that it created awareness of the fact that so many white well-educated citizens have left the country.'
"The article shows the seriousness of the brain drain - and that the underlying causes must be urgently addressed,' Cronjé said.
Especially Afrikaner whites are increasingly leaving the country of their birth. The New Zealand and Australian embassies frequently hold emigration seminars, which are always overcrowded.
He also confirmed that most of the country's white South Africans aged between 24 to 40 have already left the country - some 750,000 -- since 1994. An entire generation of whites basically have now left the country, and there indeed are many more older white men, aged above 60 years, than young ones left in the country.
And now, a second wave of young emigrants is also beginning to leave, he said: young coloured and Indian families; together with the recent graduates among the black middle-class, are also departing.
However managing director Martine Schaffer of the Homecoming Revolution - launched by a South African banking group to try and lure its best customers back to the country -- slammed the report as 'last year's old news', describing it as sensationalised, inaccurate.." Although her organisation does not maintain any registers to back up her claims, she says there is no real brain-drain. There was a brief exodus from South Africa after the election of Jacob Zuma as leader of the ANC, xenophobic attacks, and Zimbabwe's economic crisis, ' she told the Afrikaans weekly Rapport today.
However, she denies that there has been a steady exodus of whites since 1994. And, she claims that due to the global financial crisis, many now are clamouring to return.
South Africa will go the way of all independent African countries...
The native Africans have shown time and again that they are incapable of self-governance.

Apartheid is now a dirty word. Very dirty. But all it means is living separately.
There is a huge difference between keeping yourself separate from people of a different race or background and going out to rape, torture, and murder them. As far as I know (and I never heard of the guy before he was murdered), Terreblanche didn’t go around killing blacks.
You can certainly argue that separation of races is wrong. But there is an element in irrationality in the way the matter is usually treated. It’s OK to have all black dorms on our college campuses, but it’s NOT OK to have all white dorms. It’s OK for blacks to speak harshly about whites, but it’s not OK for whites to speak harshly about blacks.
I believe that all men are created equal by God. And I have had black friends, and friends who are married to blacks. But I’m not entirely sure that it’s possible to simply ignore racial and cultural differences, or to constantly treat them one-sidedly, as the Politically Correct insist that we should do.
I don’t think Terreblanche deserved to be murdered because he thought whites were different from, or even better than, blacks. I’m sure there are plenty of blacks who think they are different from, or better than, whites. That’s not a justification to murder someone.
A good question but THEY will never answer. The quintessential white woman intellectual that lead the cause to destroy the white structure was a safe as houses. Sure, if they risked being interrogated by the police and maybe threatened with jail, the ANC and supporters were going to leave them alone.
I read of one of the icons of this movement and gave a sad chuckle. She lives just outside London, England. There is a peaceful neighbourhood. Yep, it is all there, picket fence and all. I daresay if some loser lurked nearby, she would be able to call a "copper". One of my few nasty remarks I allow myself here.

I really don't know. Even blacks raised in upper middle class white neighborhoods seem to have a tendency to "go tribal" when put into a black majority area. (I've seen it happen a few times) Any ideas?

I lived and worked with three white South Africans in Key West in 1992. They knew what was going to happen and were working here illegally, afraid to go back. There were hundreds of South Africans working in Key West back then, usually in the cheesy shirt shops.
Terreblanche was a racist thug that did prison time for assualt on people because they were black.
It will be in the same condition as Zimbabwe, formerly Rhodesia, once the white farmers have gone: corrupt, broke, and unable to feed itself.

Yes. We really don’t know for sure who was in that territory in earlier centuries. The history of Africa is generally one of tribal warfare, and I believe that around the time the Afrikaaners settled there, and probably earlier, various tribes were being displaced and moving south.

Absolutely. It’s also tragic that the ‘payback’ racism is most often directed at those whose generation had nothing to do with the initial problem (kind of like blaming the current white population in the US for slavery and early century segregation).

See Thomas Sowell's book, Culture and Conquest. Most of Africa is inaccessible to other continents, or even to other parts of Africa. Travel is next to impossible because most of the rivers are interrupted with falls and rapids. Most of the continent doesn't even have a proper seacoast, since the coastal areas are mostly mountainous, with a 1,000-foot plunge to the sea. Tough place to sail a boat. Pests, disease, and huge, predatory animals contribute to the same isolation.
The net effect is that the place is impervious to the exchange of ideas and the introduction of improvements of any kind. Unlike the better-traveled areas of the world, most of Africa has had no recognizable culture since the dawn of time, and still lacks any. The exceptions have been the physically accessible areas, such as parts of North Africa and until recently, South Africa, with its ports.
It takes generations for a people to be weaned from tribalism—which is a system of nepotism and pin-headed vengeance with no objective laws, infused by a society-wide creed of compulsive opportunism and dishonesty. I would guess that welfare, by undermining male commitment to families, has the effect of destroying the law and order in an area, leaving improvised tribalism and gang warfare as the only alternatives. I think that's what's at work in our major cities.
The majority in a nation doesn’t care if you get killed and a minority is actively trying to kill you for a reason beyond your control - sounds like a war, or a genocide.
