The illegal immigration issue now boiling up as an overarching president and a Democrat Congress tackle the prospect of giving amnesty to 20 million illegal immigrants is merely a thinly veiled attempt register new Democrats for the 2010 and especially 2012 elections.
Granting illegals amnesty is thought to be the way the liberal left will assure their ascendancy to an American socialist dictatorship.
Anchor baby chain
One correction ignored for decades is ending the anchor baby chain migration by which pregnant women come to America to deliver babies who automatically receive America citizenship. This then allows these babies to be the anchors for many extended family members to enter our country.
Immigration raids that send illegal immigrant parents home to many other countries enrage everyone on all sides of the immigration debate when legally born children are left in the U.S. The operative words here are legally born. Ending this practice would bring immediate benefits.
Birth tourism
A recent article in the Turkish newspaper Hurriyet Daily News reports that Turkish parents increasingly are paying huge sums to bring pregnant women into American shores to deliver. Birth tourism is a growing source of travel company income, costing from a minimum of $25,000 to as much as $45,000 for a Manhattan birth trip.
"They come to this country and have babies. . the children are citizens eligible to go to school, receive food stamps and social programs. . the American taxpayers are paying for it," says Republican Congressman Gary Miller. He's trying to get a bill passed in Congress to stop birthright citizenship for babies born here to illegal immigrant parents.
While Latinos coming across our Southern border primarily, make up the biggest group of anchor birth babies , birth tourism from South Korea, Hong Kong and Taiwan is rising.

It’s a better solution only because none of it actually follows the law or common sense. If our “masters” actually followed the law, we wouldn’t be having these problems... or this debate.
You’re right about that.
Real conservatives care about tax payer funding of schools, food stamps and social programs...when illegals is gettin' it.
To say the least.
La Raza has an article today stating that neither the Graham amnesty nor the CIR/ASAP in the house are GOOD enough....heres the proof that the more the US gives, the more they demand.
We Dont Want Just Any Immigration Reform

That is no reason not to do this. It is all the more reason we need to act promptly, to stop the continual erosion1
This will never be reversed. The “race card” will be played to anyone attempting to change it.
Anchor-Baby Editorial Ping!
Actually, Bad Jack was saying that the parents should renounce the baby's citizenship... not the baby, who is incapable of such an act.
If the parents are here legally, I am all for it. If the parents are here for good, then being born on American soil is good enough. I am not arguing the semantics of the law here, just stating my view. Even if a child is born to someone on holiday, the child should be an American. It should not in anyway mean that his parents status is bettered because of it. It should make no difference if the child is an American or not to his parents immigration status. In fact, the child should be deported along with the parents since he can’t make his own decisions. But, if there are relatives that have legal status, that child, as an American, should be allowed to stay.
Take a honk at Wong Kim Ark. The law is real simple. If a child is born in this country, and his parents do not fit into two exceptions, the kid is a natural born citizen and can grow up to be President Pedro.

parsy, who says it will take an amendment to change this
I am all for allowing the baby to stay. No problem with babies born in this country. Put the parents on the bus. They can take their kids with them—in fact give the kid a free passport. But they still have to go.
And make sure that kid is paying his healthcare tax.
No baby goes untaxed.
Clearly, there is no point in continuing our conversation if you can't see the absurdity of your statement. God bless you.
Senator Jacob Howard, the author of the citizenship clause in the 14th Amendment, said the following regarding the true intent of the citizenship clause:
"This amendment which I have offered is simply declaratory of what I regard as the law of the land already, that every person born within the limits of the United States, and subject to their jurisdiction, is by virtue of natural law and national law a citizen of the United States. This will not, of course, include persons born in the United States who are foreigners, aliens, who belong to the families of ambassadors or foreign ministers accredited to the Government of the United States, but will include every other class of persons."
Read the Congressional record... they promised the law would never be construed it this way! The next law will probably get the same promise... with the same result.
pgyanke, who says if it takes a new law to get them to follow the existing law... the laws aren't worth the paper they're printed on...
It will take an amendment to the constitution. Or, maybe an activist conservative SCOTUS, which is an oxymoron. Other than that, prepare for an inauguration where there will be a lot of Mariachi bands.
parsy, who says Ole!, and pass the chips and salsa, please.
Conventional wisdom is that they are also eligible to run for the office of the president. Even those babies that are born under "Birth tourism," and are raised in their parents native land are eligible.
What do you think about?
“What requirement would you base American citizenship on if not this? I think that everyone born on American soil is in fact an American. As American as you or I. I do not believe that this should bestow any rights upon the parents though. My view is, the baby stays, they HAVE to go. If they do decide to leave they have the right to take the baby with them if they renounce the babys citizenship forever.”
UNREALISTIC!!! If you are here illegally your offspring born here are not automatically citizens.
These children should be citizens of their own country not ours.
