A top-ranking, highly decorated officer in the U.S. Army says he's now refusing all orders until President Barack Obama finally releases his long-form, hospital-generated birth certificate to prove his eligibility to serve as commander in chief.
"I feel I have no choice but the distasteful one of inviting my own court martial," said Lt. Col. Terry Lakin, an active-duty flight surgeon charged with caring for Army Chief of Staff Gen. George Casey's pilots and air crew. "The Constitution matters. The truth matters."
"For the first time in all my years of service to our great nation, and at great peril to my career and future, I am choosing to disobey what I believe are illegal orders, including an order to deploy to Afghanistan for my second tour of duty there. I will disobey my orders to deploy because I and I believe all servicemen and women and the American people deserve the truth about President Obama's constitutional eligibility to the office of the presidency and the commander in chief.

There is a great deal of contention regarding what a 'natural born citizen' is and perhaps his case will end the confusion. Lt. Col. Lakin is not the only person who wants the issue settled.
He has not yet done so.
;-/
If he has his 20 years in or more, he should put in his paperwork to retire..
Gonna be one helluva court martial. He will lose but it will be a chance to put before the court all the documents relating to the question of Obama’s birth.
Wonder if C-SPAN can cover it?
He’s a medical doctor so I don’t think he would have a problem replacing his income if discharged, and probably increase it 3-4 fold.
He’s the ideal person to take this action. He’s not like the reservist who simply had his orders to go on active duty revoked and thus mooting that lawsuit.
Oh, pardon me. I didn't know that I had to present my military credentials before commenting.
For your information, my comment was a direct quote from my dad, who is a retired Army Lt. Col.
If the Constitution is important then eligibility is important. It also keeps Obama sweating, smoking more crack and drinking more. If the military presses charges, they will likely have to reveal more info in discovery than they dare. Maybe it will convince others to come forward with more info. There is a group supporting him financially.
You know I would tend to agree with you except for the fact that he is said to be a surgeon and will thus have no problem in the private sector after he is booted out. It’s the Army’s loss as they are in dire need of such professionals.
But the fact that you didn’t take that into account shows you are careless to details.
I think it highly likely that this Lt. Col. did not come to his conclusion in a vacuum, there are surely other fellows in his group that are discussing the eligibility issue.
I know from experience that military professionals tend to stick together both inside and outside, so it’s a safe bet that the Lt. Col. knows very well what he is doing.
And Obama’s personal lawyers who have already spent millions of dollars from his campaign fund, continue to spend enormous sums of money to block the release of a $10 certificate record.
He’s a “flight surgeon” which is a normal Medical Doctor which checks out pilots—something like an Internist, not a surgeon who does surgery. He does have a pretty high-status job as an Army MD as he is watching over the pilots which fly the Army Chief of Staff around....
The guy has 18 years, which means he’s 2 away from retirement.
This could/would damage his career as an MD out of the Army (if he loses)...as medical boards would frown on a man with a dishonorable discharge—plus, I believe he would completely forfeit a generous pension.
Whether he’s cuckoo or not, this is a very gutsy move.
This man is very brave.
If we had 1,000 more just like him, we would be rid of this Marxist POS Obi Wan Nairobi.
I would say he is pledging his life, his fortune, and his sacred honor! Let’s see.... some other statesmen did that before........
The Kenyan Thief is very tricky.
As a retired O-5, I’d luv to go around saying I was a “high” ranking officer, but there’s no use fooling myself. There is actually a big difference between an O-5 and an O-6. For the purpose of characterization, I would label an O-6 as a “high” ranking officer. Though, in practice, I would say Major General or above without reservation. You need a Presidential nod to become an Lt General or above—so they are in a whole different league. Believe it or not, officers who retire as one-star generals often consider themselves failures because they never got that 2nd star. According to one, that was like the military telling him they made a mistake by making him a general in the first place. Go figure.
"Hackworth was nearly court-martialed for various infractions such as running a brothel for his troops in Vietnam[2], running gambling houses, and exploiting his position for personal profit by manipulating U.S. currency[2]. At the same time, he was experiencing personal problems that resulted in divorce. He was allowed to retire, in order to avoid a court martial[2], at the rank of colonel, and in an effort to rebuild his life, Hackworth moved to Australia."
I have an identical status to your dad. So what?
An O-5 is 'top-ranking' these days? Who knew?
The Army takes a dim view of soldiers who decide for themselves whether an order is legal or not. Just Google Michael New or Ehren Watada to see.
Just watch them
Actually he's pledging other people's fortunes.
