NORTH TUSTIN A controversial play that drew protesters in November will return to the Church of the Foothills for an Easter Sunday performance.
"Corpus Christi" depicts Jesus as a gay man living in 1950s Corpus Christi, Texas, playwright Terrence McNally's home town. The cast of 13 portray Jesus and the 12 Apostles.
"It's a story of love and a story of passion, and the story of Christ, so actually it works out very well to have it on Easter," said Pastor Mike Holland of Church of the Foothills. Holland said the group chose to do the play on Easter Sunday because that's the only time both the cast and the church were able to schedule the event.
"It's a modern retelling of the passion play and the life of Christ from a unique perspective, but I think it's very fitting that it would be on this weekend," he said.
Producer and actor James Brandon said he was surprised at the reaction in conservative Orange County.
"The love shown from the community was huge," Brandon said.

“The love shown from the community was huge,” Brandon said.
I’ll just bet it was a lot of “love”....in the washrooms, the parking lot, backstage....
Nothing ‘controversial’ about it; none of the facts are in question: the play’s flat wrong, and blasphemous. What else is there to be said?
I think a better idea is to attend the thing and speak loudly over the performance in an exaggerated stereotype of an effeminate gay male.
When you make someone or something a JOKE or a MOCKERY, it's hard to take is seriously. Also many WANT to believe that Christ finds homosexuality acceptable. They really WANT genuine Christianity to conform to our ever lowering social mores - so, in the name of TOLERANCE, this will be a hit with the confused and perverted. The problem is, genuine Christianity is EXCLUSIVE in teachings and homosexuality is NOT one that is acceptable. Christianity is INCLUSIVE in the fact that you can abide by His teachings or reject them. He will NOT change His teachings to make YOU feel better about sin.
Can you imagine the outcry if someone portrayed Mohammad as a faggot?
What does one say who is involved in something like this when they kneel before the Almighty?
Organizers are saying the show is for mature audiences only.Oh really? Why is that? Are they performing gay sex scenes on stage? Involving Jesus?
Producer and actor James Brandon said he was surprised at the reaction in conservative Orange County.Yeah, totally surprised, I’m sure. They should have another play at Ramadan, where they have Mohammed having sex with 9-year-old girls on stage. That would also be very daring and indeed revolutionary! Transgressing the boundaries, you know?“The love shown from the community was huge,” Brandon said.

If they don’t repent and give Him their heart ... I wouldn’t want to be them ... .
Play depicting Mohammed as pedophile returns on Ede`s.
Or as a child molester?
What is Progressive Christianity?*
By using the word progressive to identify ourselves, we mean that we are Christians who
1. Follow the life, spirit and teachings of Jesus Christ, the foundation of our faith and our window upon spiritual life;
2. Recognize that other people in different cultures and religions have other names for the Divine, and acknowledge that their ways are as true for them as our way is for us;
3. Understand the sharing of bread and wine in Jesus name to be a representation of an ancient vision of Gods feast for all peoples;
4. Invite all people to participate in our community and worship life without insisting that they become like us in order to be acceptable (including, but not limited to):
believers, agnostics, atheists, and seekers,
conventional Christians and questioning skeptics,
women and men,
those of all sexual orientations and gender identities,
those of all ethnicities and cultures,
those of all classes and abilities
those who hope for a better world
and those who struggle to find hope;
5. Know that the way we behave toward one another and toward other people is fullest expression of what we believe;
6. Find more grace in the search for understanding than we do in dogmatic certainty, more value in questioning than in absolutes;
7. Form ourselves into communities dedicated to equipping one another for the work we feel called to do: striving for peace and justice among all people, protecting and restoring the integrity of all Gods creation, and bringing hope to those Jesus called the least of his sisters and brothers; and
8. Recognize that being followers of Jesus is costly, and entails selfless love, conscientious resistance to evil, and renunciation of privilege.

Is there a Progressive Christian Theology?
Our church has no religious creeds or dogma (statements of what individuals must believe in order to become a member). Our ancestors said, No creed but Christ. Therefore, each participant is free to follow the dictates of his/her own conscience in matters of faith and belief.

At least in those cases, it would reflect the truth in that is what is known about him. To say Jesus was a homosexual is absolutely false.
Puhleeez, you were depending on it you lying sack of turds. If this was ignored he would go away, but instead he will end up being the toast of Hollywood and NYC.
If this is free speech, how do you suppose a movie that depicted Muhammad as a pig farmer would be received??
This is so wrong on so many levels.
In other words...
They claim a form of Godliness, but deny the power thereof. (2 Timothy 3:5)
...from such turn away.

God clearly warns all those who simply “tolerate” or “approve of “ these things with their great “open-mindedness” will be held just as accountable as those who actually do them. This applies to churches and pastors/ministers/priests/rabbis as well. If you are in a church or have a church leader who “approves of” and supports this activity, you might be interested in studying the prophecies on “corruption of churches” . . .
The Bible is not ambiguous in its message concerning homosexuality. Homosexuality is not new. God never calls for capital punishment, or calls anything “profane” or an “abomination” if it is simply “genetic.” When we study the passages concerning Sodom and Gomorrah, it appears homosexuality, or sodomy, is symptomatic of a people who have willfully rejected and defiantly mock Gods laws in order to do “that which is right in their own eyes.” Sodom and Gomorrah were given as warnings . . .
This is a good read, anyone that needs to know what God thinks of Homosexuality here it is..So don’t let anyone tell you it is alright to be a homo..I think the person that wrote this so called play about Jesus has some really bad things to look forward to and anyone that goes to see it will suffer also.. things from God..Laugh if you like I do not care..THese people make me sick to my stomach..
