Three weeks ago, Joseph "Zeke" Rucker was worried about which law school he would attend. Now, the 21-year-old from Sewell, New Jersey is fighting for his life after apparently being severely beaten while on a trip to Mexico.
Rucker went to Cancun with a friend to celebrate his graduation from Rutgers University. The pre-law student arrived in Cancun on March 15 and went out for a evening on the town. His friend tells Eyewitness News he and Rucker parted ways to return to their rooms for the night. Rucker, however, decided to sleep on a lounge chair near the hotel's swimming pool.
Rucker's friend said the hotel told him that a security guard talked to Rucker at about 3 a.m. and he said he was told Rucker was found injured in the grass 30 to 40 feet away from the pool at 4 a.m. on March 16.

LOL - panties? Project much?
Is that the best you can do, cupcake?
I’d bet you any amount of money you would never say that to this kid’s father. You tough-guy, keyboard warrior.
Wow.
I can’t believe the comments of a few in this thread.
He DID NOT deserve this, no matter his age or choice of profession.
He was an American who was assaulted in a foreign country.
Some of you really need to get your head on straight, or at least seek some therapy.
You must be a lawyer. lol
Too bad Mexico is travelling here.
I agree. Some of these comments are sickening, just because the kid was going to be a lawyer. God forbid anyone should NEED a lawyer one day.
hope he improves and gets well.....so sorry this happened to him.....may God bless him and his family...
there’s 5th generation Irish or Italians that feel more loyalty to Ireland and Italy respectively.....its not just the Mexicans...
“theres 5th generation Irish or Italians that feel more loyalty to Ireland and Italy respectively.....its not just the Mexicans...”
I’d like to see your stats to back that one up. Now, there are 50,000 illegal alien Irish demanding amnesty. They need to take themselves HOME and stop making demands here.
Oh, wait - let me translate that for you: Mexico bad. OK. Why hit college kid?
Beyond the one on your head I have no idea what point you ae trying to make, but I can try to sort it out - are you trying to say that because someone generalizes regarding all of Mexico that it acceptable for you to generalize about lawyers?
I don't plan to stop writing. I think instead that I will hang around just to point out what and idiot you are. Your help so far is appreciated; keep it up!
Parent’s worst nightmare...’invincible’ young adults that don’t heed warnings.
God bless this boy and his family, but I’m compelled to ask....
...who, in their right mind, would even CONSIDER going to Mexico these days?????????
Cupcake? You are cracking me up... did you come up w/ that yourself or just read it in your copy of Advocate?
You are an A$$. lol
While I agree in general that U.S. possessions are safer, I think the British Virgin Islands are much safer than the American Virgins and certainly safer than Puerto Rico.
