Three weeks ago, Joseph "Zeke" Rucker was worried about which law school he would attend. Now, the 21-year-old from Sewell, New Jersey is fighting for his life after apparently being severely beaten while on a trip to Mexico.
Rucker went to Cancun with a friend to celebrate his graduation from Rutgers University. The pre-law student arrived in Cancun on March 15 and went out for a evening on the town. His friend tells Eyewitness News he and Rucker parted ways to return to their rooms for the night. Rucker, however, decided to sleep on a lounge chair near the hotel's swimming pool.
Rucker's friend said the hotel told him that a security guard talked to Rucker at about 3 a.m. and he said he was told Rucker was found injured in the grass 30 to 40 feet away from the pool at 4 a.m. on March 16.

Mexico looks on the brink of collapse
One less lawyer?
(Mexico looks on the brink of collapse)
Just before the U.S.
Might do him some good.
Doing the murdering, robbing and drug selling Americans just won’t do.
I have been to Cancun, Cozumel and many other places in the Caribbean, including Grand Bahama and Jamaica. But I will not go to any such place anymore that is not a U.S. possession Many of these tropical places have become extremely dangerous, and never did have real law enforcement to speak of.
I thought everyone knew that Mexico was a dump and you could easily be killed for a piece of gum, let alone money in your wallet.
when will americans wise up....mexico is a hell hole....
“The only thing Zeke’s parents know is certain, is their family will never travel to Mexico again.”
Tough way to learn.
Too bad it wasn’t a Princeton grad.
I know someone who just spent the week in Manzillo....loved it. Sort of off the beaten path and no noticeable crime problems.
I guess he found one heck of a wild party there.
That’s just what college students are looking for there, after all.
Despicable comment.
Anyone stupid enough to go to Mexico these days is certainly qualified to be a lawyer.
...I am all for people coming here to assimilate and become part of our way of life...that being said, 70% of Mexicans feel loyalty to Mexico vs. the US. Although our country offers them opportunities that they could never have in their country, they are always told they are oppressed.
A HUD apartment, AFDC, WIC, Medicaid and free educations for all “citizen” children is a middle-class existence in their country.
Ted Kennedy knew this, along with all the 60’s Leftists like LBJ who knew the permanent welfare state would be imbedded forever with open borders and “multiculturalism”.
This is not by accident.
