No link yet, only from live broadcast:

In a press release just handed to Fox by the FBI, the six Michigan residents, two from Ohio, one from Indiana are charged with “seditious conspiracy.”

Reportedly, Hutaree is accused of attempted use of weapons of mass destruction. Charges range from August 2008 to today.

The militia group Hutaree are said to have conspired to oppose by force the authority of the US Government.

The members viewed local, state and federal law enforcement as "the brotherhood," also known as their enemy, and have been preparing, the FBI says, to engage them in armed conflict.

According to one plan released by the FBI, the group was to kill a law enforcement officer, then during the funeral precession, hit again with IEDs to kill more LEOs.

So you are assuming that everything in the media is true. Odd.

What is “islamic descent”? My family comes from Germany, does that make me “of nazi descent”?

Danny Thomas, Jamie Farr, Tony Shalhoub, Steve Jobs, Paul Anka, Farrah Fawcett, Sammy Hagar, Salma Hayek, Casey Kasem,
George Noory, Vic Tayback, Spencer Abraham, Darrell Issa, Ralph Nader, Jeanine Pirro, Doug Flutie, Bobby Rahal and on amd on and on.

Maybe you should avoid letting a reporter’s poor (or deliberate) choice of words drive your thinking.

Yeah. I’m a libertarian, consider myself conservative but not very religious, think libs are pretty much nuts. Think Obama’s a moron, hate the direction the Dems are dragging the country, but still think the proper remedy for that is to defeat them at the ballot box, and I’m pretty confident that will happen. I hope that doesn’t disqualify me from participating here, but if so, oh well.

No, but I don’t assume it isn’t either. Besides, it’s not the media’s credibility that’s in question here, but the FBI’s. Not to say they’re squeaky clean either, but the idea they’ve made this whole thing up seems a bit fantastic to me. Could be wrong, I guess.

"This story is not logical...."

I agree with you; the alleged target of this alleged Christian Militia simply doesn't make any sense; it is NONSENSICAL.

Besideswhich, didn't someone who is a member of both CAIR and of the Michigan Militia claim that the Hutaree were after the Islamist terrorists??? Since when have Islamist terror cells made inroads into local police departments in rural areas???

Is the FBI separate from Erik Holder’s Justice Department?? The people who refuse to investigate Black Panthers at the polling place in PA, the people who pay posters to blog online and post at who knows how many Internet forums??

yeah true a police funeral would be a good target if you wanted to kill cops. But I see no reason why a right-wing group would want to kill cops. In general most cops should join our side. killing them would only alienate them. this story is not logical. I know it is only speculation at this point but they don't give us enough information to make an informed decision yet.

It's possible they're just sort of dumb. It explains a lot really.

Say, do either of you have any theories of why, just after reports publically broke about thise massive raids that BHO, unbeknownst to the MSM, suddenly took off for Kabul, Afghanistan - allegedly for a surprise visit to the troops???

I found the timing of his absence to be rather peculiar.

It’s not that I trust them, but I don’t think they’re quite dumb enough to do something that could easily blow up in their faces. If the story got out, it would ruin BO and Holder.

It’s not impossible, but I think assuming right off the bat that this must be the case is more wishful thinking than reasoned analysis.

Can they be more specific? Or is there actually a crime called 'opposing by force the authority of the US government'?

Well, these people will be in front of a jury of their peers where the evidence will be presented. I'm sure there are a number of email exchanges and possibly wiretapping concerning the conspiracy to murder cops and from what I believe, these idiots were talking to an informant that they thought knew how to build IEDs.

I don't see why so many people think this isn't plausible, many of y'all sound like conspiracy theorists! Out of a country of 350 million people, there are going to be some wackos and sometimes economic or political times could exacerbate the very small fringe groups in this country.

The problem I have is with alarmists on both sides, some people are in complete denial while others on the left use this as an example of conservatism at large or why we need to change gun laws or something like that. I also find it troubling that so many people are so quick to defend this group, is it because they have 'Christian' in their names? And now, like the good group thinkers that some people are, I will be instantly labeled myself as a troll or liberal for ask that question. It's like so many people on both sides just have to put everybody in a neat little box.

Personally I think he was hoping the raid would spread into something more.

After all the Hutaree bunch wanted to go running to the Michigan Militia property with the FBI hot on their tails. Seems like a great way of handing access to the FBI.

Also there was apparently a lot of chatter on the net calling for militia reinforcement. It makes me wonder if the FBI and pals weren’t trying to draw others into the trap.

We talk about liberals providing aid and comfort to terrorists, but I guess if the terrorists claim to be Christians, we’ll go to bat for them.

You answered your own question. Obama, Holder, and Napolitano would use flimsy pretext to go after the militia groups even if it is idle talk that these people were expressing a viewpoint, but really had no serious intentions to do harm. I'm not going to slime them until I see the evidence. It may be a 'he said she said' situation where the government is going to try and turn that into "intent to commit" crime.

OFF-TOPIC from the thread, but...
I will never understand why the known terrorist “hot-spots” have not produced more arrests since Clinton’s time till now, frankly — especially in the case of Norman, Oklahoma... Three MAJOR terrorist incidents with way too many “coincidences” and not at least one arrest? I don’t understand it, really — the ONLY thing that saves me from a bad opinion of the FBI in those cases is the slim hope that they have infiltrated and it’s a wealthy asset for intelligence — still can’t understand how it’ worth the lives of over 3,000 citizens, but maybe the big picture justifies it... They have been successful in preventing attacks and making arrests in other places — who knows what they’ve really been doing behind the scenes...

I just want to go “on record” with my opinion that if these charges are indeed true — these men deserve to suffer for it... Thank God they were stopped. *IF* these charges are NOT true (for I’ve seen some real travesties of justice over the years) then may God strike down the liars, and lay waste to their schemes.

You say “I'm not buying this”

Something doesn't add up.

I looked at the videos at their site - I didn't see anything that point to them being fanatical or stupid enough to plot to kill a couple cops and then go their funerals to kill more - and’make war on America” -

Like a handful of people think they could attack and take over the country.

Looks more like another group that just want to be away from the cities and out from under what they see as the coming end of our freedoms under a tyrannical govt. Nothing in their videos points to them being as fanatical as the Waco group. (Even tho’ the Waco group weren't planning to attack anyone either)

From the videos on their site, there is nothing to indicate they are antisemitic either - (anti Federal Reserve and it's founders, yes, but not anti Israel.)

I could more believe that they became an easy first target in a push to tie “dangerous militia groups” in with the Tea Party people - tying in with the spate of anti-tea party rhetoric that is flooding the MSM media today - all with the same talking points. (the MSM got their part of the playbook.)

I am more afraid of a deliberate buildup of propaganda leading up to a “national emergency” for an excuse to impose Martial Law in time to prevent the Nov. election.

the sheeple tend to believe anything they are told by the media - with no independent thought or research -

This scenario about them targeting first 2 cops and then their funerals doesn't pass the smell test. Why would they plot to carry out what would be a suicide action and swift end of their community?

Look at both sides? Unless you believe that our current government leaders (rulers?) are aboveboard, America/Freedom loving people?

For myself, I'm going to wait judgment until the dust settles. In the meantime, I'm glad these people weren't the kind of fanatics that live in a communal building with lots of children all in one place.

This isn't even a "trust but verify" incident - unless you trust this government.
