Breaking: Militia group (Hutaree) charged with "seditious conspiracy" by FBI

In a press release just handed to Fox by the FBI, the six Michigan residents, two from Ohio, one from Indiana are charged with “seditious conspiracy.”

Reportedly, Hutaree is accused of attempted use of weapons of mass destruction. Charges range from August 2008 to today.

The militia group Hutaree are said to have conspired to oppose by force the authority of the US Government.

The members viewed local, state and federal law enforcement as "the brotherhood," also known as their enemy, and have been preparing, the FBI says, to engage them in armed conflict.

According to one plan released by the FBI, the group was to kill a law enforcement officer, then during the funeral precession, hit again with IEDs to kill more LEOs.

yeah true a police funeral would be a good target if you wanted to kill cops. But I see no reason why a right-wing group would want to kill cops.

In general most cops should join our side. killing them would only alienate them.

this story is not logical. I know it is only speculation at this point but they don't give us enough information to make an informed decision yet.

The comments slamming these guys for (supposedly, who knows yet) planning to kill cops were in the vast majority. Not one person said “Hey, no big deal if they were planning to kill cops”.

One of the Hutaree members called a Michigan militia leader for assistance Saturday after federal agents had already began their raid, Lackomar said, but the militia member — who is of Islamic decent and had heard about the threats — declined to offer help. That Michigan militia leader is now working with federal officials to provide information on the Hutaree member for the investigation, Lackomar said Sunday.

I have to explain why plotting to kill police makes one a jackass? I guess if it’s all a big conspiracy and they’re really just nice guys being framed, then I’m wrong. But I still find that to be unlikely.

This story makes no sense, and the fact is that they have been charged but not convicted. That you would assume they are guilty doesn’t make them “jackasses”.
