KABUL, March 28 (Reuters) - U.S. President Barack Obama arrived in Kabul on Sunday for an unannounced visit to Afghanistan, his first trip to the country since becoming president and commander-in-chief of the U.S.-led war effort.
Obama's brief trip was expected to include a one-on-one meeting with Afghan President Hamid Karzai, an expanded meeting with Karzai's cabinet and U.S. officials, and a speech to American military personnel.
A White House official, speaking before the trip, said Obama wanted to get an "on the ground update" about the war from General Stanley McChrystal, the U.S. and NATO commander, as well as Karl Eikenberry, the U.S. ambassador.

Wow! That looks bad. But on the Washington Post they have 8 photos from this trip. The ones with troops show them smiling and taking pics and holding out hands to be shaked. Very different. They look extremely pleased to see him. That’s what the public is seeing.

Has anyone mentioned how soon this happened after Prince Charles went over to visit the British troops? Charlie got much publicity and praise for his visit and it was noted that the Thug-in-Chief had never gone over to visit our troops.

“The Divine One” is attempting to build popularity using as the basis perceived momentum from the passage of the recent health care fraud. In short, we are seeing the start of a PR Boom! We will soon be treated to pictures of cheering troops, troops giving him hugs and kisses, soldiers overcome with emotion and fainting, accompanied by “The Divine One” requesting the fainted one be given air and a drink. We may even be treated to “The Divine One” healing a sick soldier. The possibilities are endless.
