By Jeff Mason

KABUL, March 28 (Reuters) - U.S. President Barack Obama arrived in Kabul on Sunday for an unannounced visit to Afghanistan, his first trip to the country since becoming president and commander-in-chief of the U.S.-led war effort.

Obama's brief trip was expected to include a one-on-one meeting with Afghan President Hamid Karzai, an expanded meeting with Karzai's cabinet and U.S. officials, and a speech to American military personnel.

A White House official, speaking before the trip, said Obama wanted to get an "on the ground update" about the war from General Stanley McChrystal, the U.S. and NATO commander, as well as Karl Eikenberry, the U.S. ambassador.

yea poll numbers are down but this was done to not attend church.

the man makes me sick and those who support him, they will say how great he is by going over there and yet ignore the real reason of using this as an excuse to not attend church

I was questioning the picture because it was on the thread about TODAY’s visit to Kabul.

I am saddened to think that our heroes are so demoralized by this dog.

We must renew our prayers for our men and women in uniform.

I have a question. Whenever B.O. has fawning troops in the photo ops, is their enthusiasm genuine? Or do their commanders tell them they HAVE to act a certain way? Where are the conservative troops who are NOT pointing cameras and angling for a handshake?

I’m soooooo sure that the troops want to see this nutjob
while he’s there. He’s probably over there to celebrate
some Muslim holiday instead of participating in the obvious
Christian ones!

In August of 1998 President Clinton ordered cruise missles strikes on terrorists camps in Afghanistan which were thought to be under the control of Bin Laden. How soon you forget the facts.
Let our actions today send this message loud and clear — there are no expendable American targets,” U.S. President Clinton said in a televised address to the American people Thursday evening. “There will be no sanctuary for terrorists. We will defend our people, our interests and our values.”

U.S. officials say the six sites attacked in Afghanistan were part of a network of terrorist compounds near the Pakistani border that housed supporters of millionaire Osama bin Laden.

An official of the Taliban, Afgahanistan’s Islamic rulers, reported 21 were killed and 30 were injured in the missile strikes in eastern Afghanistan.

Numerous sources for this online. This is one from CNN

I first saw that picture in an e-mail together with a bunch of other, clearly photoshopped images of the (cough) president. I assumed that one had been done too. I apologize if I was incorrect. Mojitojoe, did you take the picture yourself or know who did? Where and when was it taken?
