It's been said that the military is always preparing for war. That is true. We prepare for combat every day. We ran 5 miles today to the rifle range and shot nearly 200 rounds a piece at targets and then ran back. However, we also pray for peace. I would love one day to be completely unnecessary. But alas, I am a realist, and I know that day will never come.
The headlines of the last week have reminded me more of glimpsing at the S2 Daily Briefing Sheets while in theater or the Al-Jazeera than the NY Times or the Washington Post. Think about that for a moment, let it sink in.
Before I get into the main premise of this article - I need to make two statements here.
First and foremost , when it comes to the back and forth of who did what to whom and why - I don't give a @!$%#. It doesn't change the action. In life we're judged by our actions, nothing more, nothing less. One of the greatest things of the military is when it comes to an enemy, the politics behind the situation - don't matter in accomplishing that mission. For the military , life is simple in that regard.
Secondly, Regardless of your political ideology, you've earned the right as US Citizens to say your piece - no matter how wrong it may be. That is your right, and I will give my life to protect it.

So he really is a Marine?

Frightening and angering. Mostly angering. And disgusting.
If you accept the premise that a tyranny is being developed and is tightening its grip then we are left with two choices. Three if you count abandoning ship. We can submit and be servants or resist and revolt. Both choices are grim so warnings of how bad it will be to resist are meaningless to those of us who have made that choice.

If say, Texas seceded from the Union now, do you really think there would be Bosnia II inside of Texas? It would be a new country under the same management, the Gov becomes Pres, No blood shed internally, maybe from the outside, that's different.
If Texas seceded Obama would send in the troops to do a Sherman's march to Gulf of Mexico. If the sentiments expressed by the "Marine" in this article are those held by the majority of the members of the US Military then the military will do it.
There was not blood shad internally when the Confederacy seeded the last time. But 4% of the entire US population, according to the 1860 census, ended up dead before it was over. And that was in an era when the best WMD available was a guy with a torch. In today's numbers that would work out to over twelve million dead.

You betcha! No hesitation, doubt or fear as my Buddhist teacher always says.
Or, as another former Marine friend of mine says "Deal with it!" ;-)

If Texas seceded Obama would send in the troops to do a Sherman's march to Gulf of MexicoWhat troops? They are mostly deployed worldwide. The troops in the various forts in Texas are either from Texas or would defect to Texas. The US Army would be the captive not the capture. Texas National guard could be ramped up to 1 million is about a day. The feds are JOKE.
Keep thinking the way you do, you'll be a Commie soon.

Didn’t almost half of all Texans who vote vote Democrat in the last three Presidential elections? That was true in every other state.

That doesn't translate to a armed militia in the event of a secession, does it? A third of the citizenry of the Colonies were loyalists who, for the most part sat out the revolutionary war.
If you woke up in the morning and the federal govt. was gone, would you notice? The birds would still be chirping, the sky would be blue (to quote dear reader).

It does translate into a lot of people who would not like secession and would provide intel to the Feds.
If you woke up in the morning and the federal govt. was gone, would you notice?
If I worked for the FedGov I would and if I received entitlements of any kind I would. Does anyone in Texas get SS, Medicare, Medicaid, school loans, grants, etc.?

The feds are JOKE.
I forgot about the interlocking air defense system surrounding all of cities in Texas. Oh wait you don't have one of those. I do hope all those volunteers bring Patriot missile batteries, because that is what you are going to need, not just big infantry formations. And the Texas ANG. I don't doubt their skill but when 182nd Fighter Squadron has to take on the rest of the USAF and US Navy carrier wings coming up from the Gulf their skill and bravery isn't going to matter. One squadron of early mark F-16s will not provide air superiority over all of Texas. The best they will be able to do is die gloriously.
And no army can survive in modern warfare without air superiority. Just ask the millions of men in the Iraqi Republican Guard. So your million man national guard is going to be just so many targets if the USAF decides to obey the illegal orders of Obama.
Oh and even if you think one squadron of fighters can take on the rest of the USAF and US Navy then you can mass those big infantry formations. So Obama can nuke them.
The only chance is to keep the military on the side of the constitution, so that they will not obey Obama's illegal orders. If this comes down to a shooting war the military wins. The goal therefore is to get the military on your side before the shooting starts.

Why would secession start a war in the first place? Secession, as an act, is war neutral. The reaction to it may or may not cause war. So the people are supposed to stay in the Union out of fear? I say screw that. Do you really think the US Army is going to bomb a state because they seceded? This isn't 1861.... I don't think the Marine(I doubt he is a Marine) who wrote this screed is indicative of the entire US forces.
I could see tension and hostility, while the Feds moved out. Not war. Plus with 25-30 states joining in, who the hunted and who is the prey?

Why would secession start a war in the first place
Because Obama can't let his slaves escape. This man is a ruthless Marxist tyrant. After all if we were dealing with an honest, rational person with whom we simply disagreed over politics we wouldn't be talking about secession anyways. Just counting the days to the next election.
Plus with 25-30 states joining in, who the hunted and who is the prey?
Change of criteria. Your statement was that Texas could do it alone, without any help from any other state. If 25-30 states go out then it could work. Especially if you bring out Wyoming, North Dakota or Montana. A few LGM-30s do a lot to convince the other side to amicably part ways.

Over at his site everything I write is being deleted by the American killing Sgt. He is smug and arrogant beyond belief. He is nothing more than a a partisan democrat in a Marine uniform, how sad. This proves why guns and democrats don't mix.
What bothers me the most is not the American killing idiots opinion, but all of the people who agree with him and encourage him to keep up the good fight. Several claim to be military and remind all of us that we are no match for their superior fire power. One fine solider suggested that they let all of us stupid Americans have a mock war with the military to show us how foolish we are.
They forget, or don't acknowledge that if they were to fire upon Americans they would instantly create millions of home grown terrorist and it would not be as simple as this American killing Marine believes.
I would say to the Sgt, if I wasn't deleted, that surrounding yourself with like minded fools and deleting those who disagree with your American killing a$$ is somewhat like a dictatorship, you know kinda like your man Obama.

He is right in that an armed uprising would be a rebellion to be put down by the military. The rebels would be the enemy of the Constitution at that point. Then what was the purpose of the 2nd Amendment of the Constitution?
Just to have a standing militia for the government to use?
It's my understanding that the 2nd amendment of the constitution was put there so that if the government became unbearable, and tried to use force to stay in power, that the people would be able to remove that government by force if it became necessary.
Correct me if I'm wrong.
