Last October, the Yemeni government came to the CIA with a request: Could the agency collect intelligence that might help target the network of a U.S.-born al-Qaida recruiter named Anwar al-Awlaki? What happened next is haunting, in light of subsequent events.
The CIA concluded that it could not assist the Yemenis in locating al-Awlaki for a possible capture operation. The primary reason was that the agency lacked specific evidence that he threatened the lives of Americans — which is the threshold for any capture-or-kill operation against a U.S. citizen. The Yemenis also wanted U.S. Special Forces' help in pursuing al-Awlaki; that, too, was refused.
Even if the CIA had obtained hard evidence in October that al-Awlaki was a threat, and Special Forces had been authorized for a capture operation, permission from the National Security Council would have been needed.
That's because any use of lethal force against a "U.S. person," such as al-Awlaki, requires White House review.
The subsequent chain of events was a chilling demonstration of al-Awlaki's power as an al-Qaida facilitator: On Nov. 5, U.S. Army Maj. Nidal Hasan killed 13 of his fellow soldiers at Fort Hood, Texas; Hasan had exchanged 18 or more e-mails with al-Awlaki in the months before the shootings, according to the Associated Press.

The FBI was interested in al-Awlaki even before 9/11, because of his alleged fundraising for Hamas. So there was U.S. intelligence concern about him as a possible al-Qaida operative dating back nearly a decade.
And they still gave it a pass - unbelievable.

Another figure who was from San Diego was Khaled Elgindy, an Iraqi sympathetic to and in the employ of the regime of Saddam Hussein- who on the day before 911 did some stock selling:
Scott Ritter and his antiwar British inspector counterpart Dennis Halliday seem to have some connection to Khaled Elgindy. Not sure how much but he's a fan of theirs. Khaled Elgindy, a former press sec of Cynthia McKinney D-GA, is the brother of former Bear Sterns stockbroker Anthony Elgindy [aka Amr Ibrahim Elgindy].
Anthony is the guy from San Diego who short sold stocks on the day before 9/11 and who was involved with a pair of corrupt FBI agents [JEFFREY ROYER & LYNN WINGATE] who abused their positions to do insider trading and to manipulate stocks.
He was also involved in importing refugees from the Balkans into the USA.
He started working with those FBI agents when he was caught in some shady deals and he turned into quite the stool pigeon. I'd be curious to know if he ever attended the San Diego mosque of Imam al Awlaki / al Aulaqi.
Khaled worked for the Arab American Institute in DC, and was on the exec board of the American Muslim Council [which made the infamous Hillary donation which was mislabeled as the American Museum Council]. That group was actively courting politicians on both sides of the aisle. Other members of that group include Sami al Arian and Abdulrahman Alamoudi, both convicted.
Khaled was also affiliated with the terror charity Life for Relief and Development and this group paid McDermott's way to Iraq. He is or was an official in former Democrat senator of S Dakota James Abourezk's group ADC.
Both Khaled and Anthony are the sons of a CHICAGO man named Ibrahim Elgindy, who heads a number of islamic orgs in Chicago.
The father is well connected in Chicago and led a protest along with leftists like Ramsey Clark's ANSWER on behalf of the convicted Mohammed Salah of Hamas.
The guy who bribed Ritter and a number of others and who appeared on the al Mada oil voucher list in IRaq is Shakir al Khafagi. Like Khaled Elgindy , he belongs to Life for Relief and Development [formerly the International Relief Assoc.]
Curiously some of these cases ended up in Fitzgerald's baileywick where they seemed to quietly be dealt with or shelved... yes, the same Fitzgerald who went after Scooter Libby in an effort to get Cheney on the Valerie Plame name leak. Now it turns out Valerie Plame's hubby Joe Wilson seems to have a Hillary connection. It just seems interesting that the San Diego not only was home to imam al Awlaki /Aulaqi [who left San Diego before 9/11 and was followed to the east coast by the two hijackers who attended to Malaysia terror summit] ... but was also home to El Ghindy who knew to dump his stocks the day before 9/11... and el Ghindy has a father or brother in Chicago who was connected to the Democratic Party.
If this is the same guy...caught up with the 2 crooked FBI guys and selling his stocks on Sept 10, 2001 ... and it looks like the guy:

Of course, since this time those Yemenis have been overthrown and replaced by Iran and the Houthis so I reckon whichever Yemeni made the request is dead now.
