ROMNEY LEADS GOP 2012 FIELD, GAINS AGAINST OBAMA (DEM Push Poll Alert)
Clarus Research Group ^ | March 25, 2010 | Ron Faucheux

Posted on 03/25/2010 4:43:59 PM PDT by Brices Crossroads

A new nonpartisan [see post 1 below for how nonpartisan this poll really is] nationwide poll shows that former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney is currently the strongest GOP presidential candidate for the 2012 election. The poll also shows President Obama leading all potential Republican candidates, but by narrower margins than he did last August. The poll was conducted March 17-20, 2010 by Clarus Research Group, a Washington, D.C.-based polling firm, using live telephone interviewers. It was based on a representative nationwide sample of 1,050 U.S. registered voters, with a margin of error of +/- 3 percent. The survey was not sponsored or paid for by any client, candidate or political party.

OBAMA RE-ELECTION

• In a head-to-head match-up, Obama leads Romney 45 percent to 41 percent with 14 percent undecided. Though still behind the incumbent, Romney has strengthened his position since last August when the Clarus Poll showed Obama leading him by a 47-38 percent.

“Romney is the early polling frontrunner for the Republican nomination,” said Ron Faucheux, president of Clarus. “He has improved his standing against Obama and runs first among Republicans for the 2012 presidential nomination.”

• In the poll, Obama leads former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin 52 percent to 34 percent, close to the 53 percent to 34 percent lead he posted against her in August.

“Though he continues to top all the potential GOP candidates surveyed, President Obama captures more than 50 percent of the vote only against Palin in the latest poll,” said Faucheux.

This isn’t a push poll, properly speaking. A push poll is when you intentionally indicate what the “correct” answer is in the question (a “leading question” so to speak) or insert information likely to bias the respondent’s answer. Like, “Now that it’s been revealed that Candidate A beats his wife, are you more likely to support Candidate A or Candidate B?”

This may be a poll designed to “push” a particular agenda, but that’s not a “push poll.”

“These polls are beyond worthless.”

They are indeed, but I think people need to realize that they have been historically worthless and that they always show the liberal Republican as the stronger candidate. They are push polls designed to demoralize conservatives and to shore up RINOS.

If Romney becomes the Republican candidate, all is lost.

Mitt Romney: ”Now that Romneycare is national, a little self examination
may be in order for you FReepers.
You may want to ask yourself “if I had spent my time promoting
RomneyCare and Mitt Romney , could not I have garnered more support
of both Obama and Mitt Romney?“

“Romney praises Obama
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney praised President Obama
at a GOP fundraising dinner Wednesday ..
"I also think it's important for us to nod to the president when he's right," Romney said....
Romney, who spoke at a dinner for the National Republican Senatorial Committee,
said he's pleased with the president's plans to "finish the job" in Iraq and Afghanistan
-- lines that drew applause from the partisan audience. He also applauded the president
for standing up to the auto industry.
"I hope he continues to be tough ....The former businessman even offered faint praise for
Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner, saying that after a series of initial missteps,
"I think he's finally getting close to the right answer."

LOL.

Can you imagine Obam and Romney debating healthcare?

“Mine’s better,” “no, mine’s better.”

We have a Marxist in the White House.

We will need a conservative Republican to defeat him.

SARAH AMERICA!

Romney you've got a girl to beat before you can think of Osama. And in a fair fight you got little chance. If it's not a fair primary you got alot of us who will write in the real conservatives choice.

“But anything that comes from a Lefty organization is completely credible and any attempt to discredit it is grounds for criminal prosecution.”

I am going to continue to scrutinize these so called “polls.” You don’t have to look hard to see Mitt’s or Obama’s fingerprints on them.

And this is news today....why?

Didnt we fall for this when we let them pick McLAME last time?

And wasn’t Romney a LOSER to McLame?

So why would we want to run this old crop of has-beens who lost last time, against their top guys?

He won’t survive the GOP debates, because by then Obamacare will be a dismal failure and he will be unable to defend the fact that he conducted the beta testing in Massachusetts.

Yeah, after all, this administration isn’t all that much different from a McCain-Palin administration, right?

When I was asked about the choice between McCain and Obama I likened the choice between dumb and dumber. I sometimes suspect that the two parties collude to present the worst possible candidates to keep the American people disinterested in politics.

It won’t be a fair fight. Mitt does not fight fair. But he still doesn’t have a chance. She is gonna beat him like a yard dog.

I could see DeMint running. It actually may be a good idea to get Paul Ryan to be a VP. He's not in position for the Presidency, but would be a good right-hand man for POTUS.

Hang up the idea of Palin running. She is in the same boat as Romney in the sense of BO is gearing up as if these two are going to run against him.

I still think Hillary Clinton is going to primary BO, like Ted Kennedy did Jimmy Carter when he smelled weakness in the Dem party. I just don't know if it'll be from the left (can't see how since he's a leftist now) or the center (more likely).

“And this is news today....why?”

Only because it exposes the Dem tactic designed to prop up Mitt as the most “electable” candidate, in the hopes that the GOP will be stupid enough to nominate him. It ain’t gonna happen. Palin will crush him (and would have crushed him even if Obamacare had not passed)

With the advent of ObamaCare, I doubt that Romney even runs.
