The backlash: Reform turns personal
politico ^ | 3/24/10 | JAKE SHERMAN & MARIN COGAN

Louise Slaughter and Bart Stupak have received death threats.

A tea party participant published what he thought was Thomas Perriello’s home address and urged disgruntled voters to “drop by” for a “good face-to-face chat.”

Vandals broke windows at Slaughter’s office in New York and Gabrielle Giffords’s office in Arizona.

And angry voters are planning to protest this weekend at the home of Steve Driehaus — who’s already seen a photograph of his children used in a newspaper ad published by reform opponents.

The vitriolic health care debate has become personal — too personal, say House Democrats who voted for the bill and now find not just themselves but their families in the cross hairs of opponents.

Good. They should be afraid.

Sorry. When you fight the American People, They fight back.
It’s always been this way, it will always be this way. What did they expect?

Payback to all those mangy animals who are now running the country and "higher education".

I think all of their addresses should be published. Let them suffer the consequences.

Guess they forgot what Jefferson said about the tree of liberty being watered with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

It will only get worse, I predict. People are angry because these idiots refused to listen to us. Hell hath no fury like voters spurned.

Keep it up.

This is what happens when lawmakers don’t listen.

Yeah, and I recall Baldwin calling for Henry Hyde’s family to be killed on national tv. I don’t recall much outrage from Democrats.
I certainly don’t advocate harming anyone, however, protests in front of your representative’s home, when they clearly are not listening to you, is something they should expect.

Didn’t Diehaus understand how much his constituency opposed the bill? Didn’t he know there would be a cost for choosing his party over his constituents? Did he buy the Democratic propoganda that the Tea Party is just a Republican equivalent of ACORN?

But Democrats said their political opponents go too far when they bring members’ families into the fray.

Tell it to Sarah Palin's children, scumbag.

They need to go back and read up on the Sons of Liberty and how that group reacted after the Stamp Act...

Interesting how the tin eared politicos passed the bill on the aniversary of the Stamp Act, btw....

It was A-OK to make things “personal” when it involved Sarah Palin’s family. Now that the shoe’s on the other foot ...

Haven't seen this much anger since the 60's

As a senior in HS in 1972, I was called "baby killer" and other fine names during my last two months of HS. Why? I had the temerity to accept a 4 year Army ROTC scholarship.

I have never forgotten those last two months of HS.
