SANTA CLARA COUNTY (KGO) -- A Santa Clara County lawmaker will introduce legislation to stop restaurants from handing out toys with fast food menu items geared toward children. The proposed legislation would ban toy giveaways at restaurants only in Santa Clara County. Some say toys are what puts the happy in a Happy Meal, like at McDonalds. "I'm sorry but when you go for a Happy Meal for a child -- we go for the prize, because that's what makes the Happy Meal a happy meal," said San Jose resident Barbara Park. But Santa Clara County Board of Supervisor Ken Yeager says these types of fast food meals don't make for a happy, healthy waistline.

I saw that on FOX. I was shocked to realize kids pack loaded weapons in their carseats, point at Mommy’s head and force her to drive to McD’s for a fatty meal. These kids are ENTICED by the evil fast food companies.

Just leave us alone....

These folks simply do not understand individual freedom....never will.

They do understand fear....and until they fear you, they will continue to demand that you do as they say...not as they do.

Yeah, I can just picture saying to a six year old - “Of course it’s a “Happy Meal” - there is a toy inside. Now eat your brussels sprouts.”

There should be a law that mandates legislators are waterboarded each and every time theys suggest something: 1) STUPID, 2) reduces freedom, 3) interferes with private business, or 4) has no basis in relevance to the priorities of this land. Apply this at all levels of Government.

Actually, if the McDonalds' owners in Santa Clara Co. got ahead of this, they could do a public service and get some publicity besides. Offer a choice, the Happy Meal with the toy or the " Some dumb-@ss lawmaker wants your kids to be crabby and toyless" Meal sans toy. Put their frowny faces on the box with little slogans - "We know what's better for you" and "Shut up and eat your broccoli, kid"

In a way, it’s sort of fun to watch the dems totally alienate everyone.

“No maam, we aren’t allowed to give out toys with the meals anymore. The democratic congress says it will make your kids fat.” (Meanwhile, kid is crying in the backseat all through errand day.)

Of course, now that we have socialist health care, stuff like this DOES become everyone’s business. It suddenly matters to me what everyone else eats, or does for exercise, or what they smoke, because now I’m paying for it.

Socialist health care is the end of personal freedom, because the logic of the system is that everything must be regulated in order to cut costs.

Ban fun for children! When I was a kid, we had a blast waiting for whatever was in the bottom of the Cracker Jack box. I remember getting rubber frogmen and submarines that you put baking soda in and played with in the tub. No more fun for kids! Ban fun now!

Their next step is to ban drive-thru wndows on so many fronts.

It makes it too easy to feed your kids junk.
It is better for the enviroment to park the car ad turn it off. Think of the fumes being released into the air while there is a line 20 cars long.

I love the Nanny State. I can go all day without making a decision regarding the welfare of my family. /s
