WASHINGTON, March 23 (UPI) -- A Senate Republican leader says his party will look for bipartisan chances on a "case-by-case basis," not just refuse to cooperate as one senator suggested.

Sen. John Thune, R-S.D., chairman of the Republican Policy Committee, said while Republicans disagree with the way Democrats developed healthcare legislation, they wouldn't dismiss working across the aisle out of hand, The Hill reported Tuesday.

Republicans from the upper Plains states, like Thune and Grassley, tend to be hopelessly goody-goody.

One almost has to admire the Dems for the way they stick together no matter what and never care what anybody thinks about them. They are determined and tough and this persona will win them support eventhough they are wrong and evil and up to no good. It is a shame that people can’t be as passionate about the correct values. Too many Rs want to be popular and seen as reasonable and nice and compassionate. Those who feel apologetic must not really believe they are on the right side of things. The need to look dignified and avoid being the target of the vile from the left keeps them in line. The Dems stick by their guns even when their people are criminals. They intimidate and people cower.

The GOP sells you all out at just about every turn.

This is not surprising, or news.

I don’t think they put up much of a fight at all against the communists “on the other side.” I think they are phony cowards.

Does this mean he’s going to sell us out on immigration? McCain will- no matter what he says now.

I’m very disappointed in Senator Thune. I thought he was one of the up and comers in the GOP?

The days of genteel civility ~ while these morons enslave our children ~ are over!!

People of this generation expect/demand the hollywood make-believe lifestyle....conservatives give them the cold shower of reality.

There once was a time when that was respected....not anymore.

Remember...he/she who dies with the most toys wins....the method by which today's sheeple obtain those toys is irrelevant.

Earning it is oppressive, getting it for free is a right.

Welcome to the U.S.S.A.

I was a huge fan of John Thune in 2004 when he took out Daschle, you can check my posting history. Wow, an outspoken conservative Christian defeats a weasel socialist leader! Thune had a track record of being 100% pro-life, 100% pro-gun, 100% anti illegal, and 100% committed to putting decent conservative constitutionalists in government. I had high hopes for the guy.

Since then, I’ve been utterly disappointed in Senator Thune. He’s proven to be another status quo Republican who votes the “right way” on most legislation that comes before him, but is WAY too cozy with the RINO establishment and is far more concerned about bringing home the bacon than standing on principle or sticking his neck out to shrink the ever-growing federal monstrosity. I can think of no major accomplishments he’s achieved after six years in office.

I’m disappointed that many other freepers still seem lovestruck with Thune and want to reward him with a slot on a Presidential ticket. It seems to me there’s a pretty clear reason why the mainstream media keeps trying to sell conservatives on this guy, and it ain’t good. A lot of it has to do with the fact he looks good on TV and is a smooth talker, shades of the reasons Mitt Romney was hyped (no, I don’t think Thune is a Romney-type RINO, though he shares the virtue of being overhyped and underachieving ever since he won against an entrenched Democrat)

Thune’s apologists here would have us believe he DESERVES a promotion simply because he votes the “right way” 90% of the time, and therefore we should overlook the fact he was wrong on a couple of issues of MAJOR importance (::cough:: John Bolton; bailouts; gang of 10 ::cough!), and ignore the fact he’s a big spender who endorses people in primaries that freepers hate, including McCain and Mark Kirk. Yet when other so-called “red state” Senators suckup to McCain and betray us on an important issue, freepers demand their heads on a platter regardless of the fact they’re solid the other 90% of the time.

I never thought I’d agree with John McCain more than John Thune when it comes to being “bipartisan” with the Obama crowd, but this thread is living proof that McCain is indeed more outraged with Democrat treason than Thune. And for those who say it’s just a cynical move because McCain is up for re-election this year in a GOP state, I will remind you that Senator Thune is as well (perhaps Thune can get away with being “bipartisan” more because South Dakota Republicans refuse to challenge Thune in the primary and continue to whitewash his record?)

No doubt Thune is still far preferable than a Marxist Democrat in that seat. But this latest outrage – playing footsie with Dems when they just erased 200+ years of American ideals to turn this nation into a European-style big-brother nanny state – is excusable. Thune is absolutely the wrong person to nominate on a Presidential ticket in 2012, and I will do everything possible to ensure he is NOT slated.

Thune has $6 million cash on hand and no Dem challenger. Thune is moving to the center to posture himself for either President or more likely Veep.

Thune is a penis boy. He had his first election won against Tim Johnson, with evidence of Democrat voter fraud clear as day...but he didn’t FIGHT for it. So he lost. If he wouldn’t fight then, can we count on him to fight now?

Tonight Mark Levin was blasting John Cornyn of Texas who was making compromising noises about working with obama’s healthcare. THIS INFO ON THUNE NEEDS TO BE SENT TO MARK LEVIN...HE'S REALLY NAILING THESE DUM-AZZ REPUBLICANS WHO REFUSE TO RECOGNIZE THEIR ENEMIES WHEN THEY SEE THEM AND THE FACT THAT THESE SOCIALIST ENEMIES MUST BE ELIMINATED, SO THAT WE CAN CLAIM VICTORY!

This is bullsh1t!

Thune is another RINO. The whole F-ing (Biden) bill is an un-Constitutional mess. This POS should have been shredded Christmas eve.

No piece of legislation should have more than one piece in it. None of these jerks are even enforcing Medicare fraud laws.

I'm fed up with just about all of Washington.

It amazes me that freepers will rant and rave about Republican politicians "betrayal; for being on the wrong side of minor legislation that didn't even pass, but want to give Thune a promotion after he SUCCESSFULLY backed the Dems on blocking a great statesmen, John Bolton.

Some people have very strange priorities.

1.) Let us stop referring to Statists as “Democrats”!

They are neither “Democrats,” nor are they “Liberals.”
They are Statists!

2.) Only a fool helps his enemy, for reason that at times his enemy might feign friendship so to receive aid in some inconsequential issue.

3.) The days of “bipartisanship” with the statists must end.

Statists are the mortal enemy of liberty.
Statists are the mortal enemy of virtue.
Statists are the mortal enemy of economy.
Statists are the mortal enemy of life.

True Americans cherish life, liberty and property. Statists despise and diminish all of those, save what they may take for themselves. They are vampires, promising greater liberty while draining the blood of life. They are parasites, proclaiming the preservation of resources while emaciating the rights of property. They extol themselves the champions of “conscience” while they snuff out dissent at every level — even to reach into a man’s heart, and steal from him his soul. The mind of the Statist conforms itself to that ancient intellect whose beguiling ways first shackled true human freedom with the fetters of an accursed misery.

Americans therefore need follow only one course of action:
Defeat the Statists in the chambers of government...
Defeat them in the chambers of the home...
Defeat them in the chambers of the heart...
Defeat them in every endeavor...

Destroy their ability to know even the scent of power! Refuse them every opportunity to touch its sacred reins, down to the lowliest role of dog catcher!

Remember this: Their exists no good Statists... There are only Statists good at pretending to be something else... whether “Democrat” or some other moniker. They are not our countrymen... but rather they are our moral and mortal enemy.

Statists, by any name, are neither good, nor virtuous, nor productive...

Their intentions are evil...
Their ideas are evil...
Their actions are evil...
Their fraternity is evil...

It is time, dear Americans, to identify our common enemy, the Statists, and cast them, and their awful legacy, to dust heap of history.

The sword of Damocles hangs over us. If we fail to recognize the mortal danger of our present day; if we fail do exorcise the enemy within the gates, either for sentimental friendship or else politically expedient reasons, then we will be destroyed as a nation, most assuredly as every other gone before us. I pray we are not so foolish.
