“There are only two things gay men can’t do. Number one, get married to each other. Number two, throw a baseball without looking like a girl.”

Hmmmm? Who do we know that throws like a girl? Ann is extremely smart and I don’t think this is an accident.

I hope Annie files a complaint with the Canadian Human Rights Commission against Francois Houle who incited violence against her.

“I’m pretty sure little Francois A-Houle does not need to travel with a bodyguard,” she said. “I would like to know when this sort of violence, this sort of protest, has been inflicted upon a Muslim — who appear to be, from what I’ve read of the human rights complaints, the only protected group in Canada. I think I’ll give my speech tomorrow night in a burka. That will protect me.”

Let me know if you'd like to be added to the Ann Coulter ping list.

Canada will give up faster then the french.

Like the French, their military is actually pretty decent. But their post WW-II politicians have generally resembled the south end of a north bound horse. Of course ours do to, but that was a little later development, starting with LBJ and Mr. Peanut.

As usual there were also thugs in the group, one young man must have felt particularly tough surrounded by his friends with placards and bullhorns, he started to pick on an old man. The man, who must have 50 or more years older than the student, gave as good as he got and eventually one of the thugs friends told him that picking on people over 70 was not a wise idea.

Thugs hate Coulter. They even hate innocent old people. They hate anybody who dares to disagree with them.

I wish the VIDEO of Ann Coulter answering the 17 year old student on this website under the VIDEO TAB could be downloaded and saved then then put up on YouTube for all to view.

It just goes to show that as much as another country may look like America, it still isn’t quite the same. Liberty and the rule of law still have but one true home on this Earth.

Thank you, Mr. Houle, for proving the truth of American Exceptionalism.

Coulter "Mobbed" at Ottawa U

When I heard Coulter was coming to Canada I figured attending the event would be worth the entertainment value, if for nothing other than to witness the unhinged reaction that was sure to follow. Ottawa U didn't disappoint.

When I arrived there was a line of a few hundred, maybe a thousand people outside the Marion building. A few of them were chanting in front of the cameras but the line was otherwise better behaved than for a typical rock concert. The size of the line was no doubt a bit of a problem because the room held no more than 400 (my estimate).

Since I had registered for the event ahead of time I had no trouble elbowing my way to the front, verifying my name was on the list, getting inside and chatting briefly with Ezra Levant.

After a while the fire alarm went off, the obvious false alarm having been dealt with we sat down expecting the event to start.

Instead Ezra announced that police told him it would be "physically unsafe" to bring Ann in due to the "unruly mob" outside. There was certainly no issue, or even noise, inside the auditorium.

Ezra-cancels.jpg

Since I was inside at that point I don't know how unruly they became outside. But this is the national capital, just a few blocks from Parliament Hill, the US Embassy, the Prime Minister's Residence and countless embassies. The police surely have the capability to respond to anyone threatening a woman with dozens of TV cameras around. Instead, they chose to cancel the event instead.

After leaving the auditorium (from a side entrance, as the police insisted), I walked back out front to see what the commotion was:

UoOMob.JPG

A lone policewoman standing on the step asked me to leave after I took her picture. I did leave, after expressing disbelief that they canceled the event over what appeared to be a few dozen pathetic protesters chanting in front of the nearby cameras.

A truly pathetic situation all around.

The great news is, this proves that Francois's letter incited hatred and violence against Ann Coulter.

I was just outside the door to the auditorium waiting to get in since I had registered. Most of the students had not registered and were told they would not get in because their name was not on the registration list. Those students did not leave, even after the fire alarm went off (set off intentionally to disrupt the event??), and despite the request of security and the lone policewoman.

Most were polite and patient but there was a small but very vocal group agitating. If the doors had been opened I am sure there would have been a mad rush and several hundred kids would have streamed in. One organizer at the door said it was cancelled because it was not a safe situation. This remark was booed.

A contingent of police did come, I estimate about 5 of them about 20 min after the fire alarm. No firemen. We were then told after an hour of waiting, the event was canceled. Still no one left for about 15-20 min. I was told by security that Ann Coulter did not set foot in Marion Hall.

While waiting outside, a group of students were handing out anti-racism, anti-islamaphobia, anti-hate buttons and posters trying to get people riled up. Only about 1 in 5 or 6 accepted.

Not one student I asked had a read a book she had written or could identify exactly what hate speech she actually said. Clips of you tube videos of "hateful" things were cited.

Pathetic all around. Jaeger, at least you got to hear Ezra Levant.

Its nice to get eye witness accounts of these things. Looks like the event got canceled due to officials basically not wanting to be bothered with a ruckus from less than twenty jerkoffs. Sheer laziness, in other words.

We live in a country where not-very-important people, like campus security guards, get to decide who speaks and who doesn't, at whim. I'd say that's getting pretty far along the police state path.

I hope Ann sues the britches off 'em.

From takebackyourschool.wordpress.com:
CHAOS AT UOTTAWA!!!

March 23, 2010
by takebackyourschool

I am done for the night. I have several more first-hand stories to relay, will do that tomorrow. Need to rest up for a big day.  Enjoy reports and links below.

The Ann Coulter event at the University of Ottawa, after being overrun with protesters, got cancelled at the last minute earlier this evening.

Links being consistently updated below…..

email tips to takebackyourschool@gmail.com

-- snip --

UPDATE (11:05 PM) from “SM”:

… after the fire alarm was pulled, people settled down and expected the event to go on as planned. But since the doors had to be shut because of the fire alarm, the protesters blocked the entrance doors, and refused to let people in (or, presumably, out)!

After a bit of confusion and awkward waiting, Ezra took the microphone and announced that the event would not be happening because the police said it would be a threat to the safety of the people involved. This was met with huge jeers from the crowd of about 200 people that had already made it in (and paid the admission).

After we were forced to leave out a back door, we found protesters chanting and yelling in celebration out back. I told a few of the boisterous ones that they sicken me.

They got up in my face, three of them yelling something about racism and how I was a nazi. A middle-aged woman told me that a protester spit on her as she left the building.

When I went to walk home, two large males followed me as I left. I was honestly scared for my well-being.

These people are not simple protesters, or defenders of anything. They are thugs.

Report from “PB”:

Ezra gave an AMAZING speech, explaining why the turd muffin administrator who emailed Coulter before her visit should share the blame in this atrocity of freedom.

Many cameras wereon him, it will be interesting to see which, if any, decide to publish it.

It gave me goosebumps, great great speech.

And, from www.socon.ca:
Angry, Fascist University Mob Too Much of a Security Risk to Allow Coulter to Speak

Tonight was a sad night to be a Canadian.

This was the evening that free speech was banned because a few hundred student thugs who attend Ottawa University forgot what a university is about.  They would not allow the rest of the public - numbering between 1500-2000 people - to listen to her speech tonight.  As I walked past the long line-up, which stretched to the streets, I got the sense that a small majority of the crowd were sympathetic to Ms. Coulter’s appearance.  But there were “concerns”, you see,  for “public safety”.

Ottawa police had more than nine squad cars at the scene, at the university’s Marion Hall. But the event was cancelled about 8:15 p.m. — before Coulter had a chance to speak. Reports suggested the building was evacuated after someone pulled a fire alarm. “It’s a public safety issue,” said Sgt. Dan Beauchamp.  It was preceded by a Canadian University official warning a popular conservative political commentator that her speech should be muzzled, lest it should transgress our “hate speech laws”. (Source)

It’s one of those things the media doesn’t trumpet too much. After all, the University of Ottawa is a place of tolerance and academic freedom – except of course if you happen to be a conservative.

Then, you become a second class citizen in your own country where your right to be heard is drowned in screams and chants of “racism” and “homophobia”.  It doesn’t matter that this is a public institution, supported in part, by conservative tax dollars. That doesn’t mean much these days, of course.  Conservatives are good enough for being milked for money, but not good enough to have some of that public real estate for one lousy night to exercise a basic human right.  Think of it as taxation without representation.

Now, think for a moment what the University of Ottawa, at the instigation of its Vice-President Academic and Provost, is really saying.  They are saying that a whole segment of the population is not only not welcome at a publicly funded university, not only will they not be able to express themselves in an open public forum, but even their own safety cannot be guaranteed.  In other words, the University of Ottawa has become nothing more than a Left Wing Violent Ghetto which brooks no dissent or criticism of its views. It’s a place where University officials send veiled threats of prosecution, and hundreds of militant, brain-washed kids joyously celebrate their victory of not permitting themselves - or the other hundreds of Canadian citizens and students who lined up for over an hour - to be offended.

Not content for being unoffended themselves, they want to ensure that no one else feels offended – or challenged - either. Like a bunch of spoiled and dangerous brats, they will graduate from University believing that someone should be silenced and perhaps go to jail if such a transgressor meets their twisted and demented form of “hate speech”.  Not having their views challenged in the university environment – the place where it should be challenged and refined – they consign themselves to an eternity in the entitlement ghetto of the politically correct where only one view (the one they have been spoon-fed) is permitted or tolerated.

This is the “new tolerance” that Canadian Universities are churning out.  It has never occurred to these people that free speech is so foundational to a democracy and a civil society that its loss will inevitably lead to civil strife and violence.  Because if you cannot speak freely without threats of imprisonment from the prevailing political orthodoxy (and from a University no less),  then you steal people’s hope which debate and dialogue inherently always foster. And when you steal people’s hope, society becomes a very dangerous place indeed.  Those are the fascist seeds that the University of Ottawa and many Universities in Canada are planting…and which, one day, will be responsible for the bitter fruit it will reap.

I was seated beside one of Ann’s business colleagues. He told me that, to his knowledge, she has never had a speaking event cancelled before tonight.  How so predictable that a Canadian university would now boast of that disgrace.

Still, even with the speech crime cancellation, I was able to get a few good pictures and short video clips of both the private reception which was hosted in Ms. Coulter’s honour, and the small crowd which was able to filter into the auditorium amidst the screaming, salivating, fist-pounding mob which pressed in on the doors.  I’ve posted some of the pictures and video clips below, along with a short description of each.

Video of Ann Coulter on filing her Human Rights Complaint against the University of Ottawa and François….

Ann likes to be inflammatory, so we should not be surprised when the leftists get inflamed. However, when the government sides with the mob, that’s a concern. Rather than protecting free speech, the government is controlling speech so that leftists aren’t offended.

Free speech must include the right to offend, or it’s not free speech.

As a Canadian conservative, I am truly embarrassed by all this, but not surprised. I knew when Hate Crimes and Human Rights Commissions went into force, our free speech would go out the window. Many small groups have been fighting these two abominations from day one, with little result. We desperately needed a high-profile celebrity to take this issue ballistic. It just may have happened. Thanks Anne!! God bless you!!

From www2.macleans.ca:
Coulter: the she-devil in her own words

by Colby Cosh on Tuesday, March 23, 2010 11:38pm - 69 Comments

Ezra Levant, who was present at the venue for tonight’s aborted Ann Coulter talk at the University of Ottawa, spotted my quickie weblog entry about the cancelled event and had me chat briefly with the leggy agitator. Coulter tells Maclean’s she never had the chance to move on from a private dinner reception at which she was signing books, meeting local conservatives, and waiting for the all-clear from her bodyguard, who was on the scene at the university. “I was just reviewing my speech. It was a fine little speech, and by the way, I cut it down so we could have an extensive question-and-answer period. I gathered that I was going to have a very exciting crowd tonight.”

The police, Coulter says, “had been warning my bodyguard all day that they were putting up [messages] on Facebook: ‘Bring rocks, bring sticks, you gotta hurt Ann Coulter tonight, don’t let her speak.’ And the cops eventually said, we’ve got a bad feeling, this isn’t gonna happen. And they shut it down.”

Coulter agrees with the suggestion that conservative speakers face greater dangers and nuisances in trying to encounter audiences on university campuses. “I speak at a lot of college campuses and I need a bodyguard… Michael Moore does not; Judy Rebick does not. I think Mahmoud Ahmadinejad could have spoken tonight with less controversy.” She dismisses the possibility, however, that things are ever likely to change. “Unfortunately, conservatives are too polite, so they will never get a taste of their own medicine in that regard, in terms of angry mobs with sticks and rocks.”

She accuses the University of Ottawa’s academic vice-president, Francois Houle, of “inspiring hatred” toward her with his epistolary warning to her that she needed to be conscious of Canada’s criminal prohibitions of hate speech. Indeed, she says she intends, with Levant’s help, to ask police to proceed with exactly the same charges against Houle.

“He described the law to me very carefully—any speech that incites hatred toward someone based on membership in an identifiable group can be criminally prosecuted. Well, before I even set foot in Canada, he had identified me as having criminal proclivities because I belong to an identifiable group: conservatives. Or it could be because I’m a Christian, I’m a Presbyterian. I’m a female conservative. If what Francois Houle did to me is not a hate crime, then nothing is.”

After the event was cancelled by the police, Coulter says she went to her hotel room to relax and had a surreal moment. “I was watching the local news, which was all hockey and Ann Coulter, and some nut came on claiming that he was the organizer behind my speech. [murmurs in background] OK, his name is Craig Chandler. I sent an e-mail to my bodyguard saying Craig Chandler is disinvited from the event in Calgary. He’s on TV claiming to be the organizer and denouncing me!”
