Secede? What the hell for? They've already seceded from the Constitution. All that should be needed is for the rest of us to formally acknowledge their breach with us and with the Constitution, and that they're no longer part of these United States.

The lines aren't drawn yet, but the fact remains that the States CANNOT afford ObamaCare. Something's going to have to give.
That said, the Federal government would fight it to the end, as the Obama Land Grab (including that via EPA regulation, and Freddie Mac/Fannie Mae) is the ONLY way to collateralize the Federal debt to foreign and private lenders.
There simply isn't enough gold to cover the existing $12.4 trillion federal debt or the $24 trillion in debt projected by 2020. The GDP is only $12 trillion.

Stay strong and stay patient. We’re going to retake control of our government and our country in the next three years. The GOP will retake control of the House in 2010 and then take control of the Senate and the White House in 2012. There are many reasons why this will happen but the biggest reason is that liberals do not understand economics and free enterprise and don’t know how to implement policies that generate strong economic growth and low unemployment. Despite the recent cheerleading and positive spinning of the economic news by the liberally-biased MSM, the US economy will still be very weak in November, 2010 and will still be in bad condition in November, 2012. Growth will start to slow down soon and unemployment will remain stubbornly high until the GOP retakes control of congress and the White House and stops the democrats’ solemn march towards socialism and away from economic freedom.
The clincher in 2012 will be energy policy and energy prices, as I’ve written before here on FR. Because of misguided environmentalist ideology, America is not using our vast energy resources and we’re not producing enough energy here at home. Global energy prices will continue to rise in the next three years because of strongly rising demand in emerging countries (especially China and India). Oil will move above $100 per barrel later this year or next year, and the response to oil inflation by the moronic democrat leaders will probably be (incredibly) to tax our domestic energy industry more heavily to punish it for rising global oil prices caused mainly by rising demand in emerging economies and restrictions on offshore drilling in the US. The twisted liberal rationale for higher taxes will be something like...”well you oil men failed to produce enough oil here in America and now you’re making too much profit this month and prices are now back above $100 so we’re going to tax you as punishment.” What the liberals, in their economic ignorance don’t understand, is that higher oil prices and higher profits in the short term in the oil industry, are necessary incentives to free people to invest in more oil drilling and exploration. The liberals furthermore do not understand that the temporary surge in profits will subside over time as prices for all oil drilling supplies and services also rise in a signal to all suppliers to increase their investment in productive capacity. This price increase then moves all the way down the supply chain to the producers of steel, aluminum, motor vehicles, and all kinds of industrial equipment used in oil production (pumps, compressors, valves, etc). After all the price increases occur the profit margins for the oil producers at the top of the supply chain will decline back to normal long-term margins. These profits margins are not excessive “windfall” profit margins in any way and are generally well below the after-tax profit margins of many technology and health care companies. The end results of the punitive taxation of our oil industry will be lower production and skyrocketing energy prices. If significant new taxes on our oil industry are enacted in response to high oil prices, global oil prices will move up over $125 in 2012 and gasoline prices will move up over $4 per gallon. Even without any new taxes, because of all the restrictions on offshore drilling in the US, global oil prices will move up over $100 and gasoline will be pushing $4 per gallon in 2012. (BTW, There’s absolutely no good reason why the federal government should not end all federal restrictions on offshore drilling and leave these policy decisions up to the states to decide where offshore drilling should be allowed.)
Because of all the misguided energy policies of the current administration and congress, energy prices will move steadily higher and by 2012 our economy will most likely be growing slowly and fighting serious energy inflation. Because of higher taxes on business and higher personal income taxes on entrepreneurs, job growth will remain sluggish and unemployment will still be over 8% in November 2012. This climate of stagflation (caused by policies that restrict domestic production and job growth), will be the biggest reason why the GOP retakes complete control of congress and the White House in 2012. There will be a lot of other reasons for our return to power, but the economy, as always, will be the biggest driving force in that election.

Boehner remarked on the house floor last night that 27 or 28 (I’m don’t remember exactly which now, I heard both through the course of the day) states were preparing constitutional challenges and said, “That’s enough for a constitutional amendment.”

I don’t know how to say what Graham will do, he certainly seems to be the opposite of what he seemed to be when he was leading the house on the impeachment of Clinton. We seem to have possibly the best senator in the nation in Jim Demint but we have one of the worst rinos in Graham. We won’t get a chance to vote him out for more than four years and at this rate there won’t be any country left in four years.
People outside of Texas love to spout that crap.

There has been unfortunate misleading information on amendment by Convention, that somehow it can be opened wide for all sorts of shenanigans. But the convention is very strictly called and cannot go beyond the issues for which it is called. Why?
In order to call for a Constitutional Convention, 2/3s of the state legislatures must ‘apply’ to Congress and then Congress MUST CONVENE the convention. The purpose of the convention is to PROPOSE AMENDMENT(S), NOT PASS THEM!
That's where the fear and paranoia set in, OMG people from who knows where are going to hold a convention party and change everything. Nonsense!
For the purpose of argument, say a convention is called by the Congress at behest of 2/3s of states (Congress has no choice). Did 34 states decide to hold a convention about nothing? or whatever rings one’s chimes? No! They have a purpose, they have amendments in mind.
And when we say states, we mean the legislatures. How to coordinate all these legislatures? Well Obama seems to be helping us out just fine in that department, motivating us to move to state nullification of his commie-care law. But there is a bipartisan organization of state legislators from all states called the American Legislative Exchange Council and they can be useful.
So say a Convention is put together. Do they throw a month long backslapping dance party? No! They are comprised of members chosen by Congress to propose amendments with a time and budget limit.
So are they going to propose that the US Constitution be overturned, that the bill of rights be void? etc. Are they going to propose Sharia Law to be imposed? Are they going to do whatever they damn well want? No! Because whatever they propose is going back to the states.
So why don't the states just propose what they want? Answer: they probably will.
So does that mean Chicago Illinois is going to propose that ACORN determine the daily schedules and liberties of all Americans? Well maybe but chances are that Dallas Texas is not going to allow it.
See what is happening here?
A Convention is going to be summoned by the states and called by Congress with heavy input from the states as to WHY IT IS BEING CALLED, WHAT IS TO BE PROPOSED.
And then it is going back to the states or state conventions for ratification by 3/4s of them (38 states or 38 state conventions).
So we as conservatives have the most states, the red states. If we call a Convention, the liberals would have their pants full of warm smelly brown fecal matter! They would be trembling with fear!
That's the power we have as conservatives and we should use it NOW!
We should propose repeal of the 16th and 17th Amendments, because that alone will end socialism in the United States for the foreseeable feature! We can also propose an amendment to prohibit the federal government from passing unfunded mandates to the States. We can for future generations of Americans amend our Constitution to preserve freedom and promote conservative values.

Of course, even if I’m correct about the Constitution’s wording not allowing willy-nilly overthrow of itself, I would never put it past some tyrants to simply declare it null and put martial law in place to show us so.
