Two pro-life GOP members close to Stupak tell NRO that any Stupak deals are off. They just spoke with him and they said he's finished with Pelosi. They rejected his enrollment corrections proposal.

I believe that deep and terrible dark secrets will be revealed today. I turned to the Bible, which pointed to this verse:
Daniel prayed and said, Blessed be the name of God for ever and ever: for wisdom and might are his: And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding: He revealeth the deep and secret things: he knoweth what is in the darkness, and the light dwelleth with him. I thank thee, and praise thee, O thou God of my fathers, who hast given me wisdom and might, and hast made known unto me now what we desired of thee: for thou hast now made known unto us the kings matter.
Daniel 2:20-23 (King James Version)
May it be so, O, God, in Christs Holy Name. Amen

If Stupak and his team of pro-life comrades stick together - they will be fine. They will be national heroes. I would donate to help re-elect them even though they are RATs.
I think if the Stupak group sticks together then they are in the cat bird seat. Even better - the balance of power shifts in the Stupak gang favor and other Dems will jump ship of the SS Pelosi/Obama/Titanic.
I hope Stupak and his group realize the powerful position they are in. They can be safe if they say no. They will be heroes.

The Republicans (most anyway) would vote in a heartbeat for a Hyde Amendment like provision. They would never go on record opposing such an amendment no matter what the short-term political gains.
But the deal is that every Republican and pro-life Dem in the Senate are not enough to pass a potential Stupak deal. That is what the GOP leadership is saying. There is no way to get to 60 in the Senate on a Hyde Amendment addition to 0bamacare. They tried it at Christmas and failed.
So Stupak always new he was barking up the wrong tree. But he had to bark. He had to look like he was trying to work with the leadership. I hope he stands pat. He can in good conscience go back to his district and tell them that they knew he was pro-life when they voted for him. If he does not cave and can hold a meaningful coalition together he should be commended for his courage. If he caves, he is a coward and a traitor. Pretty high stakes.

Somebody tell Stupak he is in the wrong party
A single issue doesn't identify one to a party affiliation. There are many pro-infanticide Republicans.
He is not complaining about the fines for not having health insurance, the $52B worth of new taxes, the 16,000 new IRS agents and on and on and on.

I heard Eric Cantor say, we need 38 DEMOCRATS to defeat the bill. He isn’t talking about who voted yes or no last time and whether they change or not. He meant on this vote if 38 DEMS vote no the bill is killed. The list probably excludes Cao because he is a Republican.

This quote that was just posted supports the theory that Pelosi is in serious trouble with yes votes and that dealing with Stupak last night was a desperation move...

So he couldnt get Nancy to put all those promises in writing. Wow, thats a shock. /s Can't trust Stupak, either. Fox News just said that a "Senior Staffer" with Stupak says the negotiations are still underway. So much for "Finished with Pelousy"......

I just got through....the woman who answered was quite curt w/ me. When I said “hi, how are you”....she said “I’m a little busy right now”......lol! I told her I called just to say thank you for his courage staying strong, to defend the unborn.
She still didn’t seem to pleased w/ me.

Thank you for the info. We need Lincoln Davis (D TN.) and Glenn Nye (D VA.) to vote “no.” Davis is being pressured intensely by Governor Bredesen of TN (a fellow Dem who does not support Obamacare) to vote “no,” and Glenn Nye from Virginia Beach/Norfolk is already in the fight of his political life, he can’t afford to pi$$ off the majority of his constituents who do not support this bill.

He is in the right party.
I live in his district. He is liberal and truly desires that this passes. He would love to see it pass with out having to vote yes or no on it.
He is responsible for the House version passing in the first place with the Stupak language. He knew it would come to this. Only liberals would conjure up such a plan even without abortion.
