2 p.m.: The House will debate for one hour the rules of debate for the reconciliation bill and the Senate bill.

3 p.m.: The House will vote to end debate and vote on the rules of the debate.

3:15 p.m.: The House will debate the reconciliation package for two hours.

5:15 p.m.: The House will vote on the reconciliation package.

5:30 p.m.: The House will debate for 15 minutes on a Republican substitute and then vote on the substitute.

6 p.m.: The House will vote on the final reconciliation package.

6:15 p.m.: If the reconciliation bill passes, the House will immediately vote on the Senate bill, without debate.

The speech I wish some House Conservative would give on the floor today:

Madame Speaker, I rise to speak to those few remaining undecideds on this so called health care reform bill upon which we will vote this evening.

I am not speaking to those that have already cast their lot with and sold their souls to a failed leftist ideology; for all the evidence of history is lost on them.

I am not speaking to those that believe that this bill “reduces deficits” or “creates jobs”; for any appeals to logic and rationality are likewise lost. I only need to point to the eerily similar utopian promises made for Medicare and Medicaid that now are bankrupting our country and states as evidence of their folly.

No. I am speaking to those few that for whatever reason remain undecided as to how they will vote. I want to crystallize for you possibly the only reason to vote “No.”

There comes a time in everyone’s life when one reaches a fork in the road, and the path you decide to take will define you for evermore. This is such a time. However you vote, please understand that not only you but your progeny will bear the result in more ways than one.

You have to know that this bill is wrong; otherwise, you would have already decided. Your conflict is whether you are strong enough--man or women enough--to do the right thing then withstand the scorn of the powerbrokers in your party, including our President.

I’ll admit that this is an unenviable reality, but let me impress upon you an even more frightening reality. If you vote “Yes” despite believing the consequences will be potentially devastating for your state and country, then you will have to live the rest of your days looking into the eyes of your spouse and children with them knowing that you were too weak to stand up for what you believed in when this defining moment arrived. Oh, their love will still be unconditional, but their respect for you will be forever diminished. Even if your children are too young to understand now, your partner will know; and some day, so will they. Even worse, they will have to bear your stain—at school, at the grocery, and at any gathering of friends and family.

Myself, I would prefer that those that I love were able to proudly defend my vote and honor knowing that I stood on principle when history called, rather than being reduced to spouting campaign talking points all the while knowing in their heart of hearts that the truth was that I was a coward.

I don’t envy your choice.
I yield back what I am afraid is the balance of America’s time.

I’ve read MANY horror stories - babies left to die because they are a “day” too young to be born. Disabled people being allowed to die in ambulances because the state doesn’t want to pay for their hospitalizations... Etc... Etc... Probably too late now though.
