Health care foes 11 votes shy of defeating bill

Washington (CNN) -- Five more House Democrats said Tuesday that they will vote against Senate health care legislation, which puts opponents of reform just 11 votes shy of the 216 needed to prevent President Obama from scoring a major victory on his top domestic priority.

An ongoing CNN analysis shows that opposition in the House to the Senate health care plan has reached 205 members.

A total of 27 House Democrats, including nine who supported the House plan in November, have indicated that they would join a unified Republican caucus in opposing the Senate plan, which passed in that chamber December 24 with the minimum required 60 votes.

Nonetheless, House Democratic Caucus Chairman John Larson of Connecticut said Monday after a meeting with rank-and-file Democrats that "the votes are there" to pass the health care bill.

Among at least 27 Democrats who will vote against the bill is Rep. Mike McIntyre of North Carolina, who confirmed his opposition Monday.

None of this matters if they deem the senate bill passed. Those who are coming out against the bill are just providing themselves cover at election time. They can say they were against passgae. This is just a game.

Big victory for Obama? I don’t think so. He really screwed himself with this one.

But if they are going to pass the bill, I would rather they do it with the “deem and pass” strategy so that it will be completely illegitimate.

Ah, Don’t worry the Marxist will deem it through and the new taxes will cause a total economic meltdown.

which puts opponents of reform just 11 votes shy of the 216 needed to prevent President Obama from scoring a major victory on his top domestic priority.

And people wonder why Editors are being laid off at the nation's top newspapers. What was this buffoon trying to say? Is Obama short just 11 votes? Is Obama 11 votes short of those needed to prevent him from losing? Yes, we have no bananas? Can I be an editor, or do I need to undergo a lobotomy first?

English ... learn it, live it and for God's sake; please learn to speak it.

Well, when you have to write something entirely in the negative, that’s what you get.

Or how their motivation was “to prevent President Obama from scoring a major victory on his top domestic priority.”

And those three were just the introductory paragraph!

CNN, what a sad joke.

Seems like a bill that will guarantee immense and continuing numbers of unborn deaths *should be* deemed under the assistance of a woman named Slaughter. If you were writing a movie, people would be rolling their eyes over the absurdity. And yet, it's true. Satan laughing his claws off yet?

Not so quickly, Evil One; St. Michael the Archangel, pray for US!

House Democratic Caucus Chairman John Larson of Connecticut said Monday after a meeting with rank-and-file Democrats that "the votes are there" to pass the health care bill.

But they're NOT going to pass it! They're going to bypass the Constitution by simply deeming it "passed" and sending it to "Hugo Chavez" Obama to sign it. A total subversion of the democratic process and a mockery of the rule of law. God help us all!

I hope these 27 House Democrats will stick to their guns. They have the opportunity to show that a sliver (a mere smidgeon numerically) of democrats will truly represent the will of their constituents and stand tall for keeping America's financial burden under close scrutiny and concern. If they do, they should be applauded for it!

Americans in every state of the union are watching them and praying the healthcare bill is not passed. Everyone agrees steps must be taken to confront problems with it, but NOT this bill and not NOW when so many other problems affect our nation and its stability and standing in the world.
