The Texas Democratic Party took sharp measures today to distance itself from Kesha Rogers, who recently made headlines by calling for the impeachment of President Obama.
Rogers, 33, of Stafford, is a volunteer organizer for the LaRouche Youth Movement. She is running against Republican incumbent Pete Olson or the 22nd Congressional district seat.
...the Texas Democratic Party approved a resolution today that "releases party officers and members from their obligation to support LaRouche follower Kesha Rogers."
The resolution states that the movement includes "instances of illegal activities, discriminatory proclamations and thuggish behavior" and "contains clear, convincing and overwhelming evidence of discrimination based on race, religion, sexual orientation and ethnic origin."
...Rogers has demanded an apology from the party and issued a statement Monday. It reads, in part:
"The attempt to 'sanction' me for winning a primary election, fair and square, when I was the only Democrat with a real campaign in the district, is an example of the same old loser mentality that has characterized the SDEC's behavior over the last two decades, during which time the Democratic Party has been reduced to nearly minor party status in Texas. My call for the impeachment of President Obama was embraced by voters, who recognized that I am not the one threatening to take away health care, through massive cuts in Medicare and Medicaid; I'm not the one who has been bailing out Wall Street and City of London banks, while people in the district are suffering from high levels of unemployment, and record numbers of foreclosures; and I am not the one who ordered the shutdown of NASA's manned space program."

Sounds like a solid Democrat politician to me.
Man, when the LaRouche crowd starts sounding reasonable compared to the Democrats, you know the rats have gone way, way too far...
Funny, but the GOP won’t distance themselves from the Paultard candidates like Kokesh in New Mexico’s 3rd District. Why is that?
“Disenfranchised voters” need to weigh in on the state Democrat party.
I still believe LaRouche is more pro-America than most of the Democratic Party leaders.
He got thoroughly pwnd yesterday in the preconvention. Mullins beat Kokesh 80.5% to 19.5%.
He is no Tom Delay, that is for sure.
The only time you hear or see him has to do with NASA, ususlly standing in the back row at some press conference.
Pete reminds me of those kids in school who always sat in the back of the class, hiding, afraid they will be called upon.
I'll be voting Republican in Nov., so by default he'll get my vote.
I describe them as the bastard stepchild of Libertarians and Scientologists.
You are right on that for this reason, LaRouche is tied to the old Democrat Party and does not support the 1968 radical "New Democrats".
He's still a kook.
Yeah, but that D-bag Kokesh is still trying to get the signatures needed to get on the ballot. Personally, I hope he falls flat on his ass, but even then I don’t think the Ronulans will take the hint.
What makes you think the local (2,11,13,26, Barnicle) media would put Pete in a positive light? He’s a Republican.
Also, he is a freshman. Freshman don’t generally stand in front of any Congressional gathering or press conference. Tom DeLay was one of the most powerful men in the House and commanded respect, but that didn’t happen the day after he was sworn in. It took some time.
BTW, NASA is in Pete’s district.
NASA is in Pete's district, really?
Ya think that might be why I mentioned NASA in my post or that I just mentioned NASA by chance seeing Pete standing in the back of the latest press conference about NASA budget cuts?
There is a precedent for this. About 20 years ago, a woman with an Hispanic surname won the election for Harris County (Houston) Democrat Party Chair-thing. But then the woman’s past started to unravel. The woman was a transvestite who previously was a man with an Anglo surname who had a prison record and he took the Hispanic surname of his “partner” without the partner’s legal consent.
I thought this was the quintessential Democrat. He fit almost every constituency group that the Left panders to.
But the Democrat poobahs thought otherwise and while they could kick him/her/it out of office, they stripped the Chair-thing of all actual power until her term expired.
She was practicing Chicago politics in Texas.... How quaint.
Yes, sounds like the Democrat Congress in action!
