J.D. Hayworth: 'You could marry your horse'
By ANDY BARR | 3/15/10 12:07 PM EDT
Former Rep. J.D. Hayworth (R-Ariz.) said Sunday that the expansion of state laws allowing gay marriage could lead to people marrying horses.
Hayworth, during an interview with an Orlando, Fla., radio station explained: "You see, the Massachusetts Supreme Court, when it started this move toward same-sex marriage, actually defined marriage - now get this - it defined marriage as simply, 'the establishment of intimacy.'"
"Now how dangerous is that?" asked Hayworth, who is challenging Sen. John McCain from the right in Arizona's GOP Senate primary.
"I mean, I don't mean to be absurd about it, but I guess I can make the point of absurdity with an absurd point," he continued. "I guess that would mean if you really had affection for your horse, I guess you could marry your horse."
The former Republican congressman then insisted that the "only way" to prevent men from marrying horses is to create a federal marriage amendment. Hayworth noted that he supports such an amendment.

Man Gets 3 Years in Prison for Sex with Horse
8:04 PM PST, November 4, 2009
Rodell Vereen (Horry County Police Dept.)
CONWAY, S.C. -- A South Carolina man caught on video having sex with a horse was sentenced Wednesday to three years in prison after pleading guilty for the second time in two years to abusing the creature.
Rodell Vereen was also ordered never to go near the stable where the horse's owner caught him and held him for authorities at shotgun point over the summer. He apologized to the woman and to himself after admitting to buggery at the Horry County courthouse.
"I'm sorry about what I've done. I didn't mean to do it. It's my fault. I'm sorry for what I've done to myself," Vereen said during Wednesday's court hearing.
Vereen was arrested in July after Barbara Kenley caught him entering the barn at Lazy B Stables in Longs, about 20 miles northeast of Myrtle Beach. She had been staking out the stable for more than a week after setting up a surveillance camera and videotaping Vereen's assault on her 21-year-old horse named Sugar.
Kenley said she became suspicious because her horse was acting strange and getting infections, and she noticed things were moved around the barn and dirt was piled up near the horse's stall.
It wasn't the first time she'd caught Vereen. In late 2007, Kenley found him asleep in the hay after assaulting her horse. For that offense, he also pleaded guilty to buggery, received probation and had to register as a sex offender. ..."

Gives new meaning to the words, “getting hitched”.

Can I marry my cat? He’s treated me better than some men I know.

Hmmmm. Could I then declare the horse on my census form? I was thinking about declaring my dog...he’s worth a lot more than most members of Congress these days.

Well as this thread begins to degenerate and deteriorate, time for a classic old story about a man who goes to his psychiatrist and says “Doc? I got a problem, I own this horse, and I’ve become very fond of the horse” ... the Doctor says “vell, it ist not unusual to have affection for animals, I do not see a problem here.” The man says “You don’t get it Doc, I really REALLY dig the horse, know what I mean here?”
The Doctor says, “ohhhhh vell, that ist quite different, tell me my friend, is it a male horse, or a female horse?”
The man explodes with rage, “FEMALE of COURSE!!! You don’t think I’m QUEER or something do ya?!?!”

“I hate it when people make the case against gay marraige with ridiculous arguments like this. It just looks stupid.”
Please, educate us as to the ‘proper’ way to make the argument.
Hayworth could have his wife and kids pose for silly photos with tape on their mouths for gay activist groups, like Cindy and Meghan McCain did.

I agree, such absurdities completely divert the conversation from serious to a joke. As I remember, only 2 years ago Mass passed a law downgrading bestiality from a felony to a misdemeanor.
To conclude the quote: Better Adam and Stave than Adam and Steed.

Hey! Two faggots getting married is as perverted as it can get. Marrying a horse of the opposite sex would be a step up. Caligula would not try to make his horse a member of the Senate today because our Senate is too perverted for Caligula’s horse.

Marriage, in civil terms, is a construct of the government. It is a status bestowed on the basic family unit in recognition of its' importance to society.
A state legislature can create any form of civil union that it thinks appropriate. In the end, they are answerable to the voters. A state Supreme Court (as in MA) has no business in creating new laws.

"I hate it when people make the case against gay marraige with ridiculous arguments like this. It just looks stupid." That was a ridiculous statement. People should focus on polygamy. If a man can marry another man, then why can't a man marry two men?
If marriage isn't defined as one man with one woman, it can (and will) be defined as just about anything. If homosexual marriage takes root, polygamy and other polyamorous relationships will become legal codified.

I saw this picture before! The caption said, ‘If you stare at this pic for a long time, you will begin to see a horse!’
