A very dangerous act is being attempted by the Left to secure their rule over the American people and transform the legislative process from a Constitutional Republic to a government by fiat. Today on Fox News Sunday, Democratic leader Rep. Chris Van Hollen admitted Democrats intend to use the unconstitutional “Slaughter Rule” as a solution to ram nationalized health care through Congress without majority vote and in defiance to the will of the American people.

The Slaughter rule would declare that the House of Representatives “deems” the Senate health care bill “passed” by the House. House members would have to vote on whether to accept the rule, but would then be able to claim they only voted for a rule, not for the bill itself. In other words, Democrats will avoid a direct vote on the health care bill while allowing it to become law! They will take over one-sixth of the US economy without voting on it in direct violation to the legislative process defined by the U.S Constitution.

I “deem” any such act an act of treason, as it violates their oath to uphold the Costitution. Since it is a treasonous act, compliance is complicity in treason.

Okay, here's a TIME post listing those times when Republicans hve used the self-executing rule or so-called Slaughter Solution -- complete with quotes from Dems SCREAMING about Republicans using the self-executing rule. You see, there's really nothing new in Washington....

I'm not a constitutional lawyer, so all this beats me. But the fact is the so-called Slaughter solution, or self-executing rule, has been used before and has been used by Republicans, who only recently started calling it the Slaughter Solution because LOL it sounds so nasty.

Well for starters you need to read Saul Alinski’s Rules for Radicals. If they want to do violence to the constitution then you show up witht a large vociferous and angry crowd at the congressman’s district office and you hang around there until he is forced to close it. Then you find out where his house is, where his kids go to school, grandmas house etc etc and you show up there with a large and vociferous crowd.

If your congressman wants to start down an illegal and unconstitutional path then follow him down that path and chances are he will soon see why we have laws and why we expect even congressmen to obey them. See if your congressman really wants to let the genie out of the bottle because I think he is living under the delusion that civil society is maintainable by a handful of police officers and the publics unwillingness to go as far as he would to get what he wants.

The miracle of the USA is that some of its patriots are from countries that have subjected its citizens to the exact form of government, now once again trying to be forced on them.
I believe that the USA will survive obama.
I also believe that Sen. Joe McCarthy will be looked back on as a true Patriot, who understood the danger that Communism,Socialism posed to our Country, that they ingrained themselves into all aspects of Governance, the media, entertainment as propaganda, and most destructive of all academia.
What is currently playing out in Texas regarding school books, and all the Tea Parties, lead me to believe that there is indeed an awakening of patriotism.

Just hang on and when the recording is over, you will get the Capitol operator. Just ask for your Rep or Senator’s office. Then you will either talk to an aid or have the chance to leave a message for him/her to vote NO on the health care bill.

When you use the second number and the Capitol operator comes on, just ask for your Rep or Senator’s office. Every time I use this number I get the Rep or Senator’s answer machine, so it may be set up that way all the time...to go to their answer machine. Either way you can leave a message to vote NO on the health care bill!

it’s time for the people to be heard. there are three ways:

1. violence
2. voting
3. protesting

while we reserve #1, #2 has shown itself ineffectuve as they stuff the ballot boxes and shutdown FBI investigations once in power. that leaves protest... but as we saw last fallen, even putting 2.5m people on their steps doesn’t matter to these people. so what can be done?

I believe the last step before violence would be financial. I understand the fedgov would disregard and jut print the money it needs... but it is a last step

as such, I would propose a protest website where people would pledge not to pay their income taxes... but instead file the forms and place the money in an interest bearing, offshore escrow account.

once the fedgov is back in line with the Constitution, the monies would be released

Actually I think that was Honduras where the military and the supreme court - acting within the bounds of the Honduran constitution - had to remove the president - Manuel Zelaya - who was attempting just the same sort of power-grab the fascists, I mean democrats, are engaging in here. Other than that, however, you are spot on about this now being a full-fledged constitutional crisis.

“they don’t have law, even when the Senate bill is signed by Obama.” Huh? Once Obama signs the House-passed Senate version of the bill, it is LAW!!!!

Well that is the issue. As we endeavored to explain, obviously not clearly enough for you, the House action doesn't operate to pass the Senate bill under the Constitution which has a fairly precise description of what Congress must do in order to make law by passing bills. The Slaughter rule doesn't make it.

The point of what they are proposing to do in the House with the Slaughter rule is to get enough of a fake to make it past the Senate Parliamentarian as a Reconciliation Bill.

The only way that would leave an issue would be if the Senate doesn't pass the House bill; or if the Senate amends the House bill and the House does not concur and adopt the amendments--in short if they don't ultimately get both houses on a yes vote on the same bill.

In that case, all they have is this rule that says they assume they passed the Senate bill and that doesn't meet the Constitutional test of what it takes to make law and thus in my opinion the courts would likely throw out the Health Care law as not having been effectively adopted. Obviously, that's only an opinion and the Judge may not agree although I think in this case, the answer is pretty clear.

Get the Dems to include the following in their Slaughter bill, “the Senate bill is considered passed, and if the Senate does not approve the reconsilitation changes by November 1, 2010, the bill is considered not passed.”

Actually, the ruling of the Parliamentarian was to the effect that the bill has to be signed into law before the reconciliation process can move forward. That’s why Obambi postponed his trip. They’ll use the slaughter option to pass the senate bill, Obambi will sign it into law and then the reconciliation process will go forward with the fixes.

Same answer as my #57. It looks to me as though they are going to try to comply with the "signed into law" requirement with a fake. Adopting the Slaughter proposed rule does not appear to me to generate legislation that Obama could sign into law. He can sign the Senate bill but it is just not adopted legislation and it is not law.

And that is what the Senate Parliamentarian ought to say. If he doesn't, the issue could wind up presented to a court under the circumstances described in #57 which is likely to say the bill doesn't make law.
