Another fun fact from the New York Times's proxy: Senior executives can get an extra bonus for hiring minorities and women instead of white guys.

The [Compensation] Committee also retained the discretion to increase or decrease the individual component of the total bonus paid to each executive by up to 10% based on the continuing development of a diverse work force, including the inclusion of diverse candidates in hiring processes and the demonstration of personal commitment to diversity through participation in diversity-related activities, such as mentoring and sponsorship of affinity groups.
And how did NYTCO's senior management do on this category of potential bonus for this year?
Chairman Arthur Sulzberger didn't get any extra Neither did CEO Janet Robinson But Michael Golden, CEO of NYTCo's "regional media group" got an extra 5%. So, what did Michael do for this money, exactly?

This happens in a lot of places. And once they are hired they are impossible to fire no matter how bad they screw up. The white guys end up cleaning up all the messes and then hearing the lectures on sensitivity and diversity.
So thats why their paper sucks.
Seems like a lawsuit waiting to happen if it can be proven in court.
Minorities and women should buy the newspaper, and whites who presently subscribe might want to look to other newspapers for news. - Tom

So White women + Any Gender Non-Whites = Minorities?
They can't count. Relative to that grouping, White men are a minority.
So in addition to being clueless, they're innumerate.

Sure but why not go for the whole enchalda and hire a black lesbian with the last name Gonzales or even better a black lesbian named Running Deer Gonzales then you could get a bonus and apply to the high priestess of Mother Earth for whatever the secular version of Sainthood is.
