Better get ready to write your Congress Critters. Unemployed and other Americans will not be allowed to "fish for food".

These angling advocates have come to suspect that public input into the process was a charade from the beginning.

Welcome to the party, gentlemen.

As ESPN previously reported, WWF, Greenpeace, Defenders of Wildlife, Pew Environment Group and others produced a document entitled "Transition Green" shortly after Obama was elected in 2008. What has happened since suggests that the task force has been in lockstep with that position paper.

Hmmm...that paper sounds interesting. I'm going to have to research that.

Morlock fears that "what we're seeing coming at us is an attempted dismantling of the science-based fish and wildlife model that has served us so well. There's no basis in science for the agendas of these groups who are trying to push the public out of being able to fish and recreate.

Gee, I thought Obama was going to put science in her rightful place? *snicker*

Hmmm...no naming of specific areas where fishing is to be banned.

I have fished in the Florida Keys for 35 years now, recreationally as well as part time commercial fishing. I’ve watched as the great shrimping fleets had their livelihoods destroyed over the hand wringing of environmental interests.
I gave up my part time commercial fishing in the mid 1990’s when it became too much work to maintain paperwork the Federal Fishocrats required.
Now, year by year more stretches of ocean are closed to all human traffic.
Fishing in the remaining open areas is then reduced through closed seasons on certain species. This year they have closed all fishing for a variety of Groupers, in the months December-April. Spawning season they say. 35 years I never saw a grouper in those months with roe or milt. On and on it goes for all of the snappers as well. I know lots of fisherman, charter, commercial and recreational, everyone grumbles about what impacts their interests, but through Divide and Conquer, the Fishocrats pit one against the other.

Mindless bureaucrats are in every facet of life, creating more rules to increase their powers and at the same time destroy the free will of independent people.

I don't know anything about the following author and haven't even read the whole piece. IMO, he might lean a little to the left on the issue, but glean through it for whatever you can get out of it. I just want the facts and haven't seen 'em, yet.

ESPN claims Obama is about to ban fishing
March 9, 4:03 PM Charlotte Fishing Examiner
Jeffrey Weeks

"In what may be the worst example of outdoor sports reporting in the history of America, ESPN has claimed that President Barack Obama is on the verge of banning recreational fishing."

This sounds like what happened in England before their civil war in the 1600’s. It ended up that the peons burned down the churches and executed the king.

Did you see the full environmental agenda prepared for the Obama Administration called “Transition to Green”? http://docs.nrdc.org/legislation/files/leg_08112401a.pdf
It spells out the increase in National Monuments, the change in the federal land planning rule and a whole bunch of things that he is trying to implement now - many through executive orders.

Add the fact that the USFS, NPS and state of California have been putting more and more public land off limits and/or further limiting recreational activities. For example, if you climb Mt. Whitney you need one permit (if you can get one in the lottery) if you can do it in one day. You need two permits if it takes you more than one day (also by lottery) and they give you a “wag bag” if you need to pinch a loaf during your walk. If you fish along the way that will be another $41.50 for a resident license. No fires above 10,000 feet. So on this one walk if you get busted for violating any of the above rules by a ranger who is lurking, and they are sneaky, you have to pay fines for using PUBLIC LAND. Everybody gripes about it.

Teddy Roosevelt would probably let some bulls and moose loose in these power grabbing fools’ offices if he were around today.

Even though it is getting more popular to visit wilderness areas, big city folk are less inclined to do so. If only they would visit the areas that they claim to improve. These environmentalists have an agenda, but it is neither for the normal people nor by the normal people. So sad.

Sportsmen unite!

I fished at the pier in Long Beach a lot in my youth. I recall the people that I fished with were mostly either retired, poor, or just taking a break from their hectic lives, and enjoying some peace and quiet.

Back then the pier was open 24/7/365 and one could enjoy some cold beer when fishing there.

What I find truly interesting from this is the Black Community will be heavily impacted by any rules against fishing. One would think that would be a consideration of the Leftists before they would create laws against one fishing for dinner.

Just showed a map on Fox & Friends of the amount of land owned by the feds and it covers more than half of the land in the western U.S.
