Perhaps this was a cry out for relevancy - something she hasn't been since the Clinton administration, but comedienne Roseanne Barr is showing her social commentary knows no bounds.
In a March 4 post on her blog, Barr used the suicide of Marie Osmond's son, Michael Blosil, to go on a sick and twisted anti-religion screed. According to the former sitcom star, any underlying issues that led to Blosil taking his own life were a result of "his church and the people in it":
"marie osmonds poor gay son killed himself because he had been told how wrong and how sick he was every day of his life by his church and the people in it. Calling that depression' is a lie!"

Come back again when your latest has grown up, ye
of no faith.
Everyone did. That’s why her filthy mouth is going again.
Look at me, look at me.
Money quote.
Really, I’m surprised. I mean I know she’s not dead but she’s been of the air for so long I didn’t think anyone cared. I don’t. Never thought she could act at all.
Maybe, but whatever the motivation, it is just simply beyond the pale to start hammering about the child, and the mother’s religion, when her religion is probably how she will get thru this. Right now, the poor woman is just hurting. This kind of stuff guts you.

That said, I had a gay Mormon friend who told me——
that is about as far as I got because you paint a wide brush over something you are totally (by your own words) ignorant about.
Every group has disaffected members-sometimes looking for any excuse to bash, sometimes things were not done the way they should have been. But that is something you clearly do not know any thing about.
I got to know her when her son was about 10, and over the next 15 years I saw her struggle daily with what to do and how to handle his condition. Drugs, alcohol, cutting, suicide attempts, trips to the emergency room. More than once, she told her son that if he was going to kill himself, she was gonna go with him.
There were times when I would just hold the phone to my ear just to let her cry for an hour, or sometimes she would scream about the injustice visited upon her wonderful young son. She began to dedicate her life to saving his.
There is no doubt in my mind that Marie Osmond would have done anything to save her sons life. (I read somewhere earlier today that the family has her on suicide watch...and I believe it.)
But I would enjoy spending about 20 minutes in a room with just me, Rosanne Barr and a baseball bat.
But you invoke the name of God to push a homosexual agenda, right Roseanne? When it's convenient.
This is actually the first I've read of this tragedy to the Osmond family. I had to go search it to get caught up on when and what happened.
God bless and comfort the Osmond family especially the parents. How horrible for them.
She proved her stupidity, now she is a has-been.
Roseanne retracts statement about Marie Osmond’s son being gay.

‘’Michael’s friends and family say he was not gay. If that is true, then I owe a huge apology to the Osmond family and to Marie Osmond for the words I wrote here. I read several published sources before I said anything, but—I did not know him, and I don’t know his family either. I just reacted and said what I said because I have known so many gay mormon kids who committed suicide, as well as non mormon gay kids too. I am terribly ashamed of myself this time for shooting off my big mouth, and offending or hurting people who already were hurting. I don’t expect anyone to forgive me, but I am so sorry for being wrong and insensitive.’’

This is definitely anecdotal, but I lived in San Francisco and knew a lot of gays and a disproportionate number had been brought up as Mormons. The general feeling I got was that Mormonism confused middle class American life of the 1950s with religion, and it therefore set up ideals that were impossible to live with 30-40 yrs later (especially if you ventured outside a Mormon community) and were off-focus to begin with.
When Mormons wanted to lay down their arms, cease attacking the US, set aside their extra wives and prove their bona fides as good citizens, they focused on passing externals (white shirts and dark ties, anyone?). I think the result of that, combined with the failure to be able to honestly discuss the contradictions and anti-Christian nature of Joseph Smith’s visions and Brigham Young’s creation of a cult, led to a situation where anyone who had any serious questions couldn’t stay with the group because the questions could never be honestly resolved.
BTTT
ergo, she knows everything.
“Id bet that everyone who commits suicide has done at least one thing that they either knew was morally wrong or which they had been told was morally wrong according to a certain code.”
You would be dead wrong, and are cruel for stating this.
