Wow. This audience loves her and only grows to love her more as the interview rolls on. About ten minutes in she shows more guts than any politician maybe ever by agreeing to make her stand up debut on The Tonight Show in front of a Los Angeles audience. What poise.
If Sarah Palin can win over this audience in this way in one of the bluest regions of the country, if I were Barbara Boxer Id be pretty worried right now.
Somethings in the air.
Kudos as always to Jay Leno for being the consummate gentlemen. During the interview hes curious, respectful, lets her talk, and just probing enough for this kind of setting. Imagine David Letterman in this situation. With one eye on impressing his fellow Manhattan Elites, hed have been a nauseating mixture of lecherous and cruel. Jon Stewart wouldve made a lot of faces, Bill Mahers head wouldve exploded, and Stephen Colbert wouldve made fun of Trig.
If Leno thought the Beautiful People were out to get him before, his respectful treatment of Sarah Palin should forever seal his fate as The Outsider. He must have missed the Hollywood Memo declaring that its child-raping directors you make look good, not self-made governors.
UPDATE: Ed Morrisey makes a keen observation:
The Right Scoop captured last nights canny performance from Sarah Palin on Jay Lenos renewed Tonight Show. How canny? She manages to tie her treatment by the media to the mostly unfair treatment Leno himself got from the entertainment media, a good way to gain the audiences sympathy.
Yup. Just keep underestimating our Sarah.

True. And I don't overall care for newbies trying to tell established FReepers what to do.
It comes off as impolite and pushy. Never a good first impression.
I appreciate your candor and your good nature. :)
We're not bad people at all; some of us just have twisted senses of humor sometimes. (Guilty.)
Welcome to FR.
While I don’t share their affinity for Hillary Clinton, those guys are quite literally spot on in a lot of their political critiques. Personally, I find the caricatures they have for everyone from Obama (Dr. Utopia) to Oprah (the Charybdis of Lake Michigan) absolutely hilarious. That they so despise most Democrats is a bonus :)
If you don’t like what they have to say, don’t read it. Pretty simple. I don’t agree with everything that is posted on here so I pick and choose what I will read. To each his own.

I didn't take kindly to the lecture or to being told I "lost a lot of credibility citing that site." By that example, send all of us immediately to Hell if we dare quote the evil Obama.
BUMP and I most certainly don’t approve of their ‘lifestyle.’
Totally opposed to the gay agenda. Totally.
I’m calling it a night, re_nortex.
I hope you will enjoy Free Republic.
Welcome!!! and I doubt that you’re all that much older than a lot of us.
:)
Thanks much. I'm about to sip a glass of rich chocolate Ovaltine (that's my vice) and hit the hay, too.
As for my age, suffice it to say that some claim to be older than dirt. Well, in my case, I was there when dirt was still on the drawing board! :-)
By 2012 she will be one of the most well-known people in the Western Hemisphere.
Go, Sarah!
I think we're witnessing the total re-writing of the book of politics by one Sarah Louise Palin.
I've got a hunch that everything she's doing now will make perfect sense from the rear-view mirror of a Palin presidential win in 2012.
lol -- give him a wedgie instead; he'd look like Erkel.
This kind of reaction (to the HillBuzz Boyz) is an EXCELLENT preview of my (still a long time more in the making) "after action" thread.
Wait until your newbie critic finds out that I **also** posted (approvingly) comments from some Adam Lambert fansites! :o)
THAT ought to get them even MORE wee-weed up.
FWIW, I'm O.K. with conservatives like us adopting a "big tent" policy that welcomes in MANY OTHER voters who do not share ALL of our views, as long as they clearly understand this fundamental principle:
"My tent, my rules!"
Surprisingly, I didnt hear any boos from the audience, which I thought I would w/ it being from SoCal.That impressed ME, too -- even MORE so, since I was in the studio audience that night, and saw first-hand that hard-core Adam Lambert fans made up almost HALF of the room.
Let me know the time and place and I will sure try to be there.
at the risk of re-igniting the issue, I’d like to applaud re_nortex for thoughtful re-consideration.... it’s not often enough anywhere that people will consider sensible objections and be willing to correct themselves.... it’s almost “human nature” to try to double-down and fight
I did not care for the original comment and was going to say something, but it seems like there has been a very reasonable discussion and re-assessment, which is the most one can hope for much of the time in this messy world
Every time I see her on TV I ask myself; “Where is NOW now?
self ping.
Sarah Palin is awesome!
President Sarah Palin : I like the sound of it.
