Wow. This audience loves her and only grows to love her more as the interview rolls on. About ten minutes in she shows more guts than any politician maybe ever by agreeing to make her stand up debut on The Tonight Show in front of a Los Angeles audience. What poise.
If Sarah Palin can win over this audience in this way in one of the bluest regions of the country, if I were Barbara Boxer Id be pretty worried right now.
Somethings in the air.
Kudos as always to Jay Leno for being the consummate gentlemen. During the interview hes curious, respectful, lets her talk, and just probing enough for this kind of setting. Imagine David Letterman in this situation. With one eye on impressing his fellow Manhattan Elites, hed have been a nauseating mixture of lecherous and cruel. Jon Stewart wouldve made a lot of faces, Bill Mahers head wouldve exploded, and Stephen Colbert wouldve made fun of Trig.
If Leno thought the Beautiful People were out to get him before, his respectful treatment of Sarah Palin should forever seal his fate as The Outsider. He must have missed the Hollywood Memo declaring that its child-raping directors you make look good, not self-made governors.
UPDATE: Ed Morrisey makes a keen observation:
The Right Scoop captured last nights canny performance from Sarah Palin on Jay Lenos renewed Tonight Show. How canny? She manages to tie her treatment by the media to the mostly unfair treatment Leno himself got from the entertainment media, a good way to gain the audiences sympathy.
Yup. Just keep underestimating our Sarah.

i hope she laughs all the way to the bank.
hahahhaa!!!!
Maybe you should ping the old sour puss. He’d make sure to set this article straight..........
I haven’t seen many of Gov. Palin’s TV appearances, but I saw her on Leno and was very impressed.
I, for one, am willing to risk it.
Pretty good! Thanks for sharing.
She should write a note on her hand that says “Make fist, and give Obama “Noogies”
Palin was really funny and clever and witty. Great job Sarah, well done. Won the audience over in spite of their preconceived notions about her.
I thought his head had already exploded. ;^)
Usually, it doesn’t take long to figure out what someone is up to. Sarah’s got me stumped. The best I can figure is that she is trying to drive all the liberals into the “cuckoo’s nest” one at a time. It’s working great! LOL! Get ‘em Sarah!!!
Nah, that was his nose letting go.
She is end-running the MSM to articulate a message to America. A message bloody few "Conservative Republicans" are willing or able to deliver.
Where this eventually takes her is as she has said "in God's hands".
Thanks for the link. Friends were discussing her appearance on Leno while we were at dinner this evening. They thought she was great and now I can say I saw her and agree, “She was great.” She doesn’t seem to get ruffled by anything, can hold her own with the best of them, and is beautiful as always.
Is there anything she can't do? Sarah Palin exuded grace, charm, wit and above all, wisdom. And like Ronald Reagan, she's genuine -- nothing contrived.
No, Sarah Palin is not trying to drive liberals into the “cuckoo’s nest”. She simply is herself-a proud, unabashed gun carrying, sportsman/hunter, wife/mother of five, public servant and successful business patriot Christian. She is everything liberals hate.
I see a woman who continuously takes provocative shots at the opposition, whenever she gets a chance. This is a risk, of course; but so far she has not screwed up. Her win ratio is amazing, a Midas touch if there ever was one.
Fingers crossed here in Colorado.
I’d like it even better if she laughs her way to the Oval Office.
She knows how to make bullets into silver.
