Now that President Obama and congressional Democrats have dug in their heels on passing a healthcare reform bill, its clear they are intent on driving off a cliff.
In the latest poll by CNN and Opinion Research, 73 percent of Americans say they are opposed to any healthcare legislation or say they want Congress to start over again with a new bill. Only 25 percent want the current legislation passed.
Even Warren Buffett, a staunch Obama supporter, now says the bill needs to be redrafted to focus on reducing costs by providing the proper incentives and getting rid of the nonsense.
Why are Democrats so oblivious to the will of the people and the impact on their chances for re-election?
The Democrats honestly believe that they will be seen as saviors because they will expand coverage to millions who dont have health insurance now.
Never mind that the bill would cost trillions of dollars, increase taxes and premiums, cut Medicare reimbursements, ration treatment, and degrade the quality of care. To cover that up, Obama uses phony figures spelled out in a Wall Street Journal editorial today.
The Democrats blindness is akin to the Detroit automakers refusal to take into account what consumers want.
John Fitzgerald, president of Fitzgerald Auto Malls in Rockville, Md., says he pointed out to Detroit executives for decades that Consumer Reports ratings have a huge impact on what consumers buy. In the 1960s, General Motors and Chrysler represented 66 percent of Consumer Reports recommendations, he says, compared with just 14 percent in this decade.
Consumer Reports has consistently given Japanese cars scores far higher scores for quality and reliability than cars made by American manufacturers.

I still don’t trust most of the American people. Sorry to say.
I agree with the comments that this has become all about ego and nothing else. Blind prima donnas like Pelousi, GReid and 0bama have their pride involved in this. Their motivation is no longer intellectually based, it’s glandular.
They’ve declared war on me.
Guess it’ll soon be time to reciprocate.
“I still dont trust most of the American people. Sorry to say.”
Wellllllllll...the polls all say that we are 75-25 against now...it’s pretty unanimous...I don’t know how even a 100% slanted medai is going to save them from this...it could turn out to be a political massacre for them...just so we can undo the damage...I lived in MA for a while and even they pretty regularly put a Republican in the Gov mansion to keep the crazies under control...
Mixed metaphor alert!
“Mixed metaphor alert!”
He evidently saw that whole bucket of worms as a horse of a different color...
Substitute “Have their blinders on” for “Dug in their heels” and it is corrected.
>>I still dont trust most of the American people. Sorry to say.<<
This is the kernel. I agree.
Now, more than ever, I feel like a German in early 30’s germany. My country has gone mad. It is going work out very badly for them. And me.
My only recourse is to mitigate the damage, which is one reason I bought the small farm in central Kentucky.
I do as well. This isn't even about health care anymore, it's about the ability of the Dems to force their will on the public and nothing more.
I think that's it. It's no longer (if it ever was) about improving the practice of medicine, or the manner in which it is compensated.
Now, it's a pure P!$$!ng contest.
This should say: Warren Buffett, a staunch Obama supporter and lifelong liberal Democrat.
The only reason Buffett is saying this is becaue it affects the bottom line for his companies. If anyone ever told me that Buffett gave a tinker's d**n about what is good or bad for the United States, I would laugh out loud.
The day this goes to 0bama’s desk to sign...
Every man, woman, and child that is part of the 75% against this needs to take to the streets, public squares, and if able Washington DC itself.
I don’t know how to put the fear of God into the darkness that lurks in 0bama’s heart & mind, but we must pray that the piercing light of freedom stays his hand upon this legislation.
Alas, none are so blind as those who can't see the forest for the trees.
“Even Warren Buffett, a staunch Obama supporter...”
My brother was a financial guy on Wall street...he always called him Warren Boo-fay...he’d eat anyone or anything.
“I dont know how even a 100% slanted medai is going to save them from this...”
I’m with unkus, I don’t trust the American public. Remember, it’s the same public that voted Obama in office, with virtually no vetting.
The Dems are busy bribing, and selling this to those on the fence as their only chance. They figure passing ANYTHING is better than going into November explaining why they haven’t done anything at all for 2 years, and the economy is crap. The Dems are also counting on the short attention span of the public, and the public’s notoriously short memory. The Dems figure that by November, it will be jobs, jobs, jobs, and they will be passing punitive measures meant to “help” the middle class. (In reality, they’ll drive even more businesses out of operation, or overseas.)
And the icing on the cake is that once it passes, the MSM will be in full court press, constantly running stories about how brave, historic, and wonderful the healthcare bill is for America. The majority of Americans who get their news exclusively from NBCABCCBSCNNMSNBC will buy it completely.
The author need to read “How to Write Good”.
“3.Avoid cliches like the plague. (Theyre old hat.)”
“22.Even if a mixed metaphor sings, it should be derailed.”
I still dont trust most of the American people. Sorry to say
Agree...but with a wee bit of clarification/wordsmithing...
I still don't trust the ever increasing ratio of the entitlement people. Sorry to say. ;)
even Screamin’ Howie Dean is out there echoing these thoughts today
