Rep. Eric Massa (D-N.Y.) will not seek re-election after only one term in office.
According to several House aides on both sides of the aisle the House ethics committee has been informed of allegations that Massa, who is married with two children, sexually harassed a male staffer.
Massa and his office did not immediately respond to requests for comment, but his office has scheduled a press conference for later this afternoon.
Massa, a 20-year Navy veteran, was elected to office last November. He serves on the Agriculture, Armed Services and Homeland Security committees.
Perhaps as part of the “stimulus package”, Speaker Pelosi will hire The Village People to serenade him with “IN THE NAVY” with the punchline: “Shame on you, shame on you as a new recruit!!”
Can’t spell Massa without ass!
The problem is that now he has no reason to repeat his vote against 0bamacare. Advantage +1 to Pelousi.
It looks like it! Although everything around it is - I distinctly remember Chautauqua County (far left of the map) once being a part of that district when Amo Houghton, one of four Republicans to vote against impeaching Clinton. Now, Chautauqua’s been gerrymandered into Buffalo so that their congressman can safely ignore Chautauqua County and still handily win.
My daughter might try for Congressional Page next year (I’ll have to hide the House Impeachment Rally pics). My wife was worried about pervs but I said it was OK, she’s a girl. It sounds like all the boys are getting the attention these days.
Doesn’t that perpetuate and in fact condone a hostile working environment for the harrassed staffer?
Just holding them to their own book of rules, lol.
LOL.
You know the political climate is bad when you would rather be a gay sexual harasser than a supporter of Obama’s policies.
Ya might want to put that conclusion in check. The staffer could be the “flaming poofter” and Massa ridiculed his sexuality.
That would constitute sexual harrassment.
So I guess Bonnie Fwank is too OLD for him (her, it)?
I don't know, but the timing of this story breaking a day after Massa announces he will vote against the Senate version of the health care bill seems suspicious to me.
Might be a message intended to warn Democratic House members exactly how Nancy Pelosi intends on securing the necessary number of votes from her party.
Unfortunately, this might mean Nancy will get one vote switch from 'no' to 'yes'.
Unfortunately, this guy voted against health care bill because it wasn’t single payer. He may vote for it now he has nothing to lose.
I had to steal this from Politico’s comments: “Wow, another democrat that thought the last election was a “man” date.”
Well that is different. It must be a real disgusting event to be in a Dum caucas meeting.
Sadly, the Dems don't have the market cornered on sexual deviancy.
You've read 'way too much into what I said. I'm not defending anybody for something this stupid. I happen to swing the other way (straight) but I wouldn't even consider dating someone at my workplace let alone do anything that could be construed as sexual harassment.
The carefully stated “from both sides of the aisle” sort of puts that possibility into doubt. That Massa is a Democrat does, also. Less likely to have said it, and with ideology trumping all, an aggrieved “flaming poofter” would be far less likely to go public with the charge, if he actually had said it.
That's what I am thinking.
“the main difference is that one is legal (sending sexually explicit e-mails to underage pages) and one is illegal (sexual harrassment). “
Both are reprehensible and cannot be defended in anyway.
I’m surprised you would try.
