White House officials tell ABC News that in his remarks tomorrow President Obama will indicate a willingness to work with Republicans on some issue to get a health care reform bill passed but will say that if it is necessary, Democrats will use the controversial reconciliation rules requiring only 51 Senate votes to pass the "fix" to the Senate bill.
Lawmakers on Capitol Hill have been awaiting the presidents remarks direction on how health care reform will proceed.
In his remarks, scheduled to be at the White House, the president will paint a picture of what he will say will happen without a health care reform bill skyrocketing premiums, everyone at the mercy of the insurance industry as recently seen with the 39% premium increases proposed by Anthem Blue Cross in California.
He will note that the fixed bill will include the proposal for a new "Health Insurance Rate Authority" to set guidelines for reasonable rate increases. If proposed premium increases are not justifiable per those Health Insurance Rate Authority guidelines, the Health and Human Services Secretary or state regulators could block them.
The president will outline the plan to pass the bill, including having the House of Representatives pass the Democratic Senate health care reform legislation as well as a second bill containing various fixes.
He will say that if Republicans refuse to allow and up or down vote in the Senate on the fixes to the bill, Democrats will use the reconciliation rules.
He will argue these rules are perfectly appropriate because the procedure is not being used for the whole bill, just for some fixes; because reconciliation rules are traditionally used for deficit reduction and health care reform will reduce the deficit;

Posturing for the benefit of the Kossites. The Democrats do not have the votes to pass the *House* version of Obamacare again, let alone the Senate version.
As long as Obama keeps talking about Obamacare, we all win. Not only does it keep improving our chances of winning a large majority in the House and a small majority in the Senate (which would become 60+ after 2012 and 2014), but it keeps the RATs from moving any other harmful legislation forward because all they talk about is Obamacare.
Oh, please, Mr. Obama, DO go ahead and do this. Pull this trigger, so to speak. Make the next step in turning around your Liberofascist agenda EASY...
If they can’t even get it passed via reconciliation, then they will bring out the super nuke option, whatever that is. The point: they will pass this (or force this), no matter what. We had better wisen up — they are playing for keeps.

I honstely believe they have NO IDEA what the people's rage will be over this.
At your service.
“Betting that Senator Byrd puts a screehing stop to this blatant trashing of His RULE!!”
He will throw his rule out the door in this instance.
I would assume you are correct.
There were what, 40 "No" votes, from the "moderate" Democrats. Now, most of them know they're going down for the count in November.
And, this time, it is the House Democrats who are in a position to exact a price for their vote. Logically, most of the 40 will bargain for their sinecure before they agree to vote "yes".
We might get 40 new ambassadors out of this one vote. I'm nominating Chet Edwards for Chad...
There's ANOTHER way to stop this in 2011.
A GOP House could refuse to fund any of it. Of course, the Senate would refuse the the House bill in conference and the Prez would refuse to sign such a spending bill.
This would set up another "gridlock" episode circa 1995.
then, the real fight starts.
“If the Rats succeed, it is the beginning of the end of our Republicjust what they plan.”
The beginning of the end? The Republic is already ended. They are just driving the last nails into the coffin.
For the black guy with big ears? I dunno...
It sure would be interesting if Byrd's bigotry saved the day.
Can the Supreme Court strike this down in it’s entirety if they find one portion of it unconstitutional?
Not asking if they would - just if they are capable of undoing the entire thing if they say “this piece is unconstitutional” (i.e. the being forced to buy health insurance provision)
They keep saying that they just need a “simple majority” to pass it even though the VAST MAJORITY oppose it. Will Obolshevik veto it if a “simple majority” vote to repeal it?
See #37.
I have said that we need to make this part of the platform for this year’s elections...either defeat it later in the year or if it’s passed now, fight for repeal. But a candidate can promise one thing; then get into office and do entirely the opposite. That’s what concerns me. We need to clean out Washington DC, but it’s entirely possible that we will replace the incumbents with yet another group of socialists and their sympathizers in the Republican party.
“The Democrats do not have the votes to pass the *House* version of Obamacare again, let alone the Senate version.”
I wish that was true but unfortunately Hussein will make them an offer they can’t refuse.
Once again, as the GOP plays checkers, the DNC is playing chess.
But, We The People ... are playing Solitaire.
And, when all is said and done ... we will meet in
Washington for our tournament match...
