HAMPTON — A local man is facing criminal charges after allegedly admitting to police that he killed a cat with a shotgun near his home back in November.

Jeffrey Lee Eiras, 54, Hampton, was arrested last week on charges of cruelty to animals and unauthorized use of firearms/firecrackers. Eiras was arraigned on the charges at Hampton District Court on March 1.

Police said the investigation began after they received a call from a concerned neighbor about the alleged incident that occurred at Eiras' home on Winnacunnet Road, near Locke Road, around 5 p.m. on Nov. 8, 2009.

No such thing as a vicious animal. Only people who don’t understand them.

Besides, if you don’t piss them off they won’t bother you. :-)

“The problem is you can’t shoot feral cats,” Sawyer said.

Why not?

Lots of bobcats and an occasional Florida Panther where I live.
Three nights ago a panther walked through my yard as my son was outide and it scared him more than a little.’

I told him if he’d offed the cat he’d be PETAs evil posterboy for the year.
Bobcats do a great job keeping the wabbit population in check.

Many states have strict rules about firing a weapon within X yards of human-occupied dwellings. It’s a good law. Looks like this moron violated that law. He’ll probably lose his hunting privileges for a year.

He should have trapped the cat or tracked it to a distance where it was safe to shoot it.

We had a lot of wild pigs across the street from me. A panther moved in and now there aren’t so many pigs.

Kid and i have a different way of dealing with the pigs.
Dragonov with infrared light and green lazer dot.
Wear night vision goggles and sit in a tree stand in our yard along the runway.
We can see better than the pigs do and ya hit the biggest one first.
OH MY, surprised peta isn’t protesting.
Fill you divot with sand when done.

Tell that to the innocent people who are mauled by Pit bulls while just walking down the street.

I can’t believe what passes for news these days, let alone the police being called and charges brought.

“The problem is you can’t shoot feral cats,” Sawyer said.

Don't shoot them, trap them and then dispose of them. I've eliminated many this way...

What does that have to do with anything? We have game laws for a reason. When eliminating pests, there’s a right way and a wrong way. If I see someone firing a weapon around homes, you bet your ass I’ll turn him in.
