There are dozens of free converter programs on download.com.
Its really easy.
Here’s an easier solution:
- plzy the youtube video on your computer, pause it at the place you want to capture
- move the cursor out of the way
- hit Fn-Insert (use Fn like a shift key) to do a print-screen which actually copies it into a buffer somehere
- open Paint or some graphics progra
- in Paint (if that’s what you used), click on Edit, Paste to bring that copy of the screen into Paint
- crop, resize, etc, then save as a .JPG file or .BMP or whatever

If you use Firefox, there are a number of addons (my favorite is Easy YouTube Video Downloader 2.1) that allows you to very easily save the higher-quality YouTube videos in their native formats - usually MP4, and sometimes in HD). Windows Media Player can easily handle MP4, so you don’t really have to convert anything, as you might with a Flash (FLV) file.
http://keepvid.com downloads youtube videos and converts to several formats.
Go to Keepvid.com, insert the url for the youtube video, click save to my computer, rename your file.
Great question.
The first is freeware and it is called Moyea FLV Downloader. Simply download this program, copy and paste the Youtube URL into the Moyea web browser and tell it where to save the file.
The other piece is called AVS Video Converter. It can be downloaded as Shareware...I don't recall what the limitation is for this particular piece since I bought their entire suite for $59.00...it's that good. Read their website and see what you get for $59. It's amazing and their stuff WORKS. But I digress.
Use the AVS Video Converter to convert your saved Youtube FLV video to .wmv with 2 clicks of you mouse. You're done. Simple. I have done this many times and it works everytime.
You can copy the embed code from the Youtube site and paste it into the PPT page, click on the link during the presentation, provided you have internet access at the presentation site, and the video will play.
