Gov. David Paterson will not seek reelection; but will not resign
New York Daily News ^ | February 26, 2010 | Kenneth Lovett

Embattled Gov. Paterson has pulled the plug on his bid to seek reelection, a source close to the governor said Friday.

Paterson will announce the decision later Friday.

Paterson has been under fire for having contacted a woman who accused one of his top aides of domestic violence.

The source said the governor has agreed not to seek election, but he will not resign - opting to serve out the remainder of his term.

The decision clears the way for Attorney General Andrew Cuomo, who is the favorite of many Democrats, to seek the nomination unimpeded.

I have heard Lazio on the radio a few times. He has really done his homework on governing, budgeting, etc.

Whether he can overcome the msm is another story.

After all, he dared to walk near her heinous’ space when he was running for senate.

The very woman who dodged bullets on a runway.......was so frightened of Lazio.

The real question is why would anyone in their right mind want to be Governor of New York? Next to Governor of California it has to be the most impossible job in politics. Both States’ are bankrupt with completely dysfunctional legislatures.

As I said, "I'm all for prosecuting fraud or illegal business practices."

Prosecute anybody who "packaged and sold bogus securities" and lock them up, but the much larger cause of the economic meltdown was the completely legal or even government mandated policies.

People like Andrew Cuomo created the mess. I'm not saying we shouldn't prosecute fraud and crime, but it's not enough to impress me when its coming from one of the head honchos.

It's like the godfather hoping we ignore his global crime syndicate because he slaps a few neighborhood bookies.

Lazio is an interesting case. He picked up "name recognition" at the now famous Hillary declaration: "Boo hoo, you're mean to girls".

Of course, the Dems have such a huge majority, except for Guliani, I don't know who would really have a chance.

What’s especially interesting about Andy is who he lets off the hook.

It’s something I do for the people I ping. They get more general news once a day, but perhaps I should do that on a separate thread. FRegards ....

That makes sense, but yeah, I think a separate thread would make more sense. FRegards to you as well...

Democrat party throws Patterson under the bus! What a bunch of racists!

Will the blacks in NY show up to support the Democrats in the 2010 elections? (My guess is yes, they have no pride).

Once-a-day ping is fine, Wildfire, and you can ping me for a ‘posse’ if needed anytime.

The legislature in CA and NY is so completely corrupt that nothing can be accomplished. That said, did Pete Wilson do a credible job? We know Reagan did well, but he was more liberal back then.

NY is a hopeless case, but then everyone said NYC was unmanageable until Rudy was elected.

The NY Post gives him four weeks, tops, before he resigns.

ROTFLMAO! Good one!

Gov. Paterson - Gov. Le Petomane

For those unfamiliar with NY politics, if your a Democrat and you step down you avoid all future criminal charges, that’s how it works. See Spitzer most recently among hundreds of examples.
