Scott Brown is taking fire from Facebook friends and the Twittering class for his cross-over vote on Harry Reid’s job bill. But the reaction from a lot of Republicans is a “what-did-you-expect” shrug.

Minutes after the Brown cast his cloture Monday night, the Web erupted in comments from conservatives who felt they’d been betrayed by the Massachusetts Republican: “We’ve been scammed!” “Write your senator from Boston or 2010 will be the Brown Sox Curse." “Forget about Brown for President. He’s made his first mistake.”?

Who were the other Republicans who caved on this bill? The need to be outed as well.

The first day in Washington he stated he will reach across the aisle on some bills, stay with Republicans on others. I’m not sure why so many people are astonished at this.

Scott Brown's win was a great victory and the best thing about it was his stance against socialized medicine.

But if people thought Brown would be staunchly conservative on all issues they were naive. New England is not going to change THAT fast. Incrementally yes...overnight no.

Brown was always going to vote with the Democrats on some issues. He is from Massachusetts for crying out loud, and he has a reelection coming up in 2012.
The reason most conservatives backed him was to stop 0bamacare. Everything else is gravy. He already voted to stop one 0bama communist nominee and union thug from taking office in his very first vote.

He said in his ads he would be independent and he has worked with Dems in Mass before. The only people who said Brown would vote “in lockstep with Republicans” were the union folks who ran ads against him (including that flyer saying “The Bush Is Brown”).
To get elected in MA, it would be highly unlikely for someone who would vote conservative on every issue. Here in the People’s Republic we have to take what we can.

(Reminder: MA has 1 Rep US senator, 1 Dem; all 10 US Reps
are Democrat. The Gov, Lt Gov, Auditor, Treasurer (until he became an Unenrolled), Sec of State, were all voted in as Democrats. 5, make that 4, out of 40 state senators are
Republican. Maybe 15 state Reps, out of 160, are Republican.

Talk host Michael Graham on WTKK was mentioning as long as Scott votes against the huge health care bill, votes to curb spending, and so on, he’s fine with us.

_If it weren’t for Ted Kennedy’s health care bill and the Dems’ changing of the rules, Brown would have lost. He ran for election at just the right time. He the Dems not changed the rules; had Ted resigned and the special election gone forth months ago, we would have yet another Dem vote. And that meant Dem each and every time._

I'm from Massachusetts and I was convinced from the get-go that conservatives would be deeply disappointed by the pro-abortion Brown. Brown also voted for Romney Care, Mitt Romney's state equivelent to Obama Care. Brown is not a conservative in the traditional sense of the word, not at all. I predict he will eventually sign on to some watered down version of Obama care, and will continue to occassionally vote along with socialist-leaning Democrats, just to show that he can 'reach accross the isle'.

he stated in his campaign that he would be “independent” and vote across party lines when he deemed it appropriate for MA

I paid attention to what he said. I expected this. Some must not have heard him say this. He is still vastly better than the alternative

This isn't true at all. We voted for Brown because he claimed to not only be against Obamacare, but also because he was against all big government tax-and-spend bills, like the "Jobs Bill" he just signed onto. Also because of his repeated declaration: "This is the PEOPLE'S seat". Well the PEOPLE are sick and tired of all of Obama's, Pelosi's and Reid's big government agenda, not just Obamacare.

The good citizens of Massachusetts need to rip Brown a new one over this, and send back to him his own declaration: "This is not YOUR seat, Senator Brown, it is the PEOPLES".

Massachusetts hasn't had a Republican Attorney General since Elliot Richardson (1967-9), and hasn't had a Republican Secretary of the Commonwealth since 1949. Granted Secretary of State is pretty much a nothing job, but it goes to show just how Democrat the state is.
