Rosio Rosa Gonzalez, aged 18, and a juvenile were the occupants of the other car.
The cops had just busted Gonzalez and his friend for stealing the car they were in. They believe the occupants of the car that crashed at Luke AFB were friends of theirs and took off in a panic when they saw their buddies being arrested.

A plane tail number (and a burning house) lead straight to records quickly. If it is teens in a stolen car, maybe no ID; maybe they’d like to first notify the next of kin of the stupid perp they killed. Waiting a few hours shouldn’t get panties in a wad. And, if it does turn out to be non-muslim teens, do we get any collection from all of the “I’ll bet it is a . . . .” folk?

ABSOLUTE BS that they could definitely rule out terrorism so quickly - unless both the assailant and the soldier were involved in some way that was known about (I haven’t read the article yet, so one option would be domestic violence). However, how they can rule things out so quickly like that REALLY goes against all the “best practices” of Criminal Investigation. It’s not like with everything going on people are going to freak out if they say “we don’t know yet”! How hard is that?

Is that age true for terrorists here within the US? I would think not, unless he grew up here — if gangsters in the inner cities can become ruthless at 15, no reason a fundamentalist Islamic terrorist couldn’t. It’s just that I would think they would use older guys for the bigger operations because of the risks all the way through the process to do what to them is an “overseas” operation in a lot of ways.
