THE NUMBERS are in, and there can no longer be any doubt that President Obamas stimulus bill, passed just over a year ago, helped pull America from the brink of economic catastrophe, in part by creating millions of jobs that would not otherwise have existed. All of the major economic research firms that have studied the stimulus effect have come to this conclusion.
Still, though, its ridiculous to deny, as many have, that adding 2.5 million jobs was a poor use of government funds.
Stimulus opponents, often motivated by strictly ideological or political concerns, have repeatedly claimed that the bill didnt create a single job that the economy wouldnt have created anyway. This isnt true, and it should be beyond the bounds of political debate to claim it.

This is 3rd grade economics. The government NEVER creats a sustainable private sector job. The government takes our taxes and gives it to people for a project. Once the project is done the job is gone.
The only jobs the government has created is more government jobs. The last thing we need right now. It is all B.S.
The Boston Globe is still ignorant when it comes to economics.
They seem to believe the government creates wealth, and not the private sector. They also seem to lack the knowledge in order for the government to operate they have to take money from the private sector. Thus, costing private sector jobs and wealth.
What morons!
IOW, shut up or we will demagogue you in to obeyance.
The vast majority of the job “created” or saved were Government jobs. So the Stimulus helped keep the Government bureaucracy bloated. This proabably DID help stop the bleeding in the short term, but its gotta be be paid for. As such, it will be a significant mid-long term drag on the Economy.
It sure is. Obama is a phony and there are too many who can't see that.
“All of the major economic research firms that have studied the stimulus effect have come to this conclusion.”
That sentence alone proves that the writer of this editorial is ....wait for it...INSANE. “ALL of the major economic research firms.....” Ok Name them all. How about naming a few of them. The writer concludes that there is no evidence from any other research firm to say there was any other conclusions to be drawn. Please, this is clearly facts from another planet. We have all heard and read reports from reliable sources that conclude otherwise.
Clearly, the porkulus saved many government union jobs - for now. Cities, towns, and states funded municipal and state jobs (teachers, firemen, police, highway workers etc) with this money. What happens when the porkulus money dries up?
Unions and their pensions are going to kill this country if something isn’t done and done soon.
Anyway, who reads the Boston Globe anyway? I live in Massachusetts and hear that their circulation numbers are dropping....
I'd be more impressed if they would name some of these firms' studies specifically.
Just as Obama and all his partisan supporters so often do, the Globe thinks that just calling something a fact makes it so.
This is how the left argues, and they fool nobody but themselves.
Government jobs that is. And at taxpayers expense and therefore worthless jobs. Just more bueracrats to wreak captalism and bring in the chains of communism on Americans.
It has created about 30 Czars at a couple $100,000 per year.
Hummmmm? What was the stimulus again? The rest went into a bottomless pit I guess.
Average citizen John Q. Pubic didn’t see any!
I am a right wig ping.

Sorry little computer programmer nerd humor.
What’s scary is that I actually UNDERSTAND that, despite my last script/programming experience being in LINUX 3-4 years ago.
The ones who do not see it are the ones who voted for him because he was a brother.
Now, now. You are exaggerating. Actually it is 9,843,986 1/2 jobs. (The 1/2 is for the author of the story in the Globe).

By using simple 2.0 Generics and Linq2Sql I have rendered an array of buttons with URLS and the lies all in a Master Page.
When will you C++ hackers ever learn.
The True Impact of the Stimulus
The CEA claims that the stimulus bill created jobs in 2009, but this claim is based on its newly constructed "it would have been worse" forecast for 2009. When trillions of dollars are being spent, the American people deserve to have a true economic analysis done and should not waste money on meaningless reports."

But this is an infinite loop. Where is the exit from it? After all, liberals lie infinitely.
So far, the "experts" have been wrong, then.
