It's that time of year again. Pundits, pollsters and lobbyists are gathering in the nation's capital to tell conservative activists how to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
...
This year, the Beltway leaders of conservatism are racing hard to catch up with a parade they did not launch and cannot control. Across America, grass-roots patriots and anti-Obama protests have changed the political landscape in ways conservatism's entrenched Beltway Politburo did not anticipate.
...
The greatest threat in 1960 was international how to deal with the threat of Soviet communism and the "missile gap" and anti-communism was the unifying force among conservatives. Today, by contrast, the question of how to respond to the threat from radical Islam got barely a mention in CPAC forums. Indeed, as columnist Michelle Malkin has pointed out, some of CPAC's leaders have voiced support for Obama's insane policy of treating captured terrorists like ordinary criminals with full Miranda rights.
The best example of how CPAC 2010 has failed the conservative movement is CPAC's attempt to redefine (sabotage would be a more accurate term) the potent issues of illegal immigration and border security. Whereas grass-roots conservatives and millions of 912 patriots along with 80 percent of the American people understand the need for border security as a precondition for immigration reform, CPAC board member Grover Norquist is busy launching a new project in support of the Obama administration's plan to grant another amnesty to 20 million illegal aliens. Neither border control nor immigration enforcement was included as a topic for any of the CPAC general sessions.
...
What all this tells us is that it is not only the Republican Party that is suffering an identity crisis. So is conservatism.

Nortwist...
Theres been a lot of crap at this CPAC.
And next year they should probably move it to San Francisco now that we know what the “PAC” stands for.
I’m afraid the term ‘conservative’ is being hijacked. I think I’m just a ‘constitutionalist’ now.
I don’t know who they think they are fooling, but what they’re trying to pass off isn’t Conservatism.
Pull the plug on CPAC — it is worse than useless, dangerous.

GOPride’s unexpected participation caused the socially conservative groups to boycott, leaving the economic conservatives and libertarians. So surprise, little support for national sovereignty. The RATs have punked CPAC and until it regains sane self control it will go nowhere.
Rather than cave to the rinos in the RNC/GOP I am willing to fight for the party.
I say lets kick the rinos to the side and watch them go out screaming.
Possibly the same tact could be used over at CPAC by its members. My guess is that if every CPAC member knew what we have just been shown about Norquist he and others would quickly become pariahs and personna non-grata.
Rather than give up on these orgs that have obviously been infiltrated, why not fight to kick the bastards out!
It's what we do best.
Thanks, If people do not know they need to do their research. Hey Hey Ho Ho Grover Norquist has got to GO!
CPAC is a front for Washington Elite.
Ron Paul’s Libertarians are taking OVER the Republican Party and the Republican Party is letting them because they are MODERATES! They will soon out number Conservatives and thats the way they like it!!
Libertarians for the most part are OPEN BORDERS, Pro-GAY Pro Aborts
Politics is local, after all.
CPAC is nice, but local control of the GOP is crucial.
Here's how ...
A few years back, I took a 2 year hiatus from FR. One thing I did was explore the paradox that is Grover Norquist.
More here than you ever wanted to know (none of it good):
http://towncriernews.blogspot.com/search?q=grover+norquist
This quote from Norquist sums it up:
“I started out as a right-winger, and when I retire I want to be a squishy middle-of-the-roader,” he jokes, chortling at the thought. Grover Norquist
“Hey Hey Ho Ho Grover Norquist has got to GO!”
Absolutely. He’s the biggest problem in the GOP. I still wonder why Rove/Bush put so much faith and power in this guy.
I also wonder why he has so much influence. Maybe he has an album of photos worthy of blackmail against these politicos.
This is a person with a lot more influence than he should have and he is dug in deep. He is on the board of The American Conservative Union that holds CPAC. I don't think many have connected the dots.
Goodbye, CPAC.
RIP
Absolute nonsense. wRong and his nutcase brigades will never be allowed anywhere near the reigns of power in the GOP. Their influence on the Tea Party movement; however, is a different story.
Thanks!
