U.S. Sen. Frank Lautenberg, New Jersey
(Excerpt) Read more at nj.com ...
Good for you - at least you have beat the odds so far.
The Governor is authorized to call for a special election, but, apparently, he is not required to do so. Does this mean that if he is not required to call for a special election, his appointed Senator gets to serve out Lautenberg's term?
Otherwise, the vacancy is filled at first or second succeeding general election, depending on when it occurs.
Otherwise what?
If the Governor does not appoint a replacement?
If the Governor does not call for a special election?
Does anyone have an informed opinion about what would happen in case of a vacancy for NJ Senate?
If the vacancy happens this spring/summer then their would be a special election in November for the remaining 4 years and Christie could appoint someone to fill in from the date of vacancy to the swearing in after November's election. If the vacancy occurs after the next election then the seat could be filled by appointment until 2012 when an election would occur for the last 2 years
THAT’S where’s he’s been. I read a weird article the other day that was about his having fallen down and also his love of skiing. It sounded creepily like an obituary. I guesss this is why.
Most types of stomach cancer are treatable with removal of the stomah, radiation and chemo; it’s surviving that’s hard, and Mr. Lautenberg is strong but no longer young.
Whike I have little respect for him except for his love of outdoor activities, my prayers are with him and his family.
Yeah, they trotted out Lautenberg past the legal date to replace Torch and we’ve been stuck with him ever since.
The NJ Supreme Court called it a plus for voters. Jerkoffs!
I’ll default to the longest if you don’t mind... LOL
Byrd (Dem) is still in the same situation.
And that guy with the brain tumor?
Arlen Spector (now a Dem, formerly a Rep.) from Penn.
Also Johnson (D) from South Dakota -- brain hemorrhage.
Someone was wheeled in on a gurney for a vote, werent they .. may have been that one.
That was Pete Wilson (R) of Calif. former Gov. & Senator.
He had an emergency appendectomy if I recall correctly.
Their claws have to be bleeding before they let go and follow protocol.
Hell, not even bleeding stomachs and brains stop them.
They're soooooo dedicated to serving their country aren't they.
Yes, unless and until the 'Rat controlled state legislature changes the procedure. (They did that in MA but it backfired on them.)
In the meantime, look for Lautenberg to hang onto his seat as long as he can physically get to it. The 'Rats know they need every vote they can get for their unpopular agenda, especially cap and trade and nationalized health care.
No, he'll be dead by 2014. And NJ and the country will be better off for it.
Let us face facts. An 86 year old cancerous scumbag is no more worthy of consideration than a younger cancerous scumbag, like everyone else in the 'rat caucus.
still plans to finish out his current term -- his fifth in the Senate -- and seek re-election in 2014Thanks Sub-Driver.
They had to come up with a story because the animatronic Disney-build wasn’t fully functional yet. Whether it is him or his animatronic double...VOTE THEM OUT! Don’t be fooled.
He knows it would be a Republican that would take his seat if he leaves....He’s a Democrat,... I think they would wheel him in to vote even if he was already dead. I pray for his recovery..but a man has to know him limitations.....Time to hang it up...
Its tough to recover from anything at 86. Prayers for him and his family... Prayers also for the United States of America...
Thanks for the info.
How ironic is it that several of the key votes on Obamacare will be coming from 80+ year old relics on life support...the very treatment that their health reform would deny to millions of Americans.
If they wanted to do that it would have had to have been before Christie took office. I believe they discussed it.
Now Christie could simply veto any change.
Frank should step down to focus on his health. Come on Frank lose the stressful job and you’ll make it to 200.
One less vote for Obamacare.
How’s old Byrd feeling today?
