Obama Writing Health Bill to Skirt GOP Filibuster: Publishing Bill 2/22 (3 days B4 GOP Mtg)
Fox News ^ | Feb. 19, 2010 | AP

Posted on 02/19/2010 3:37:07 AM PST by BIOCHEMKY

President Obama is working on health care legislation intended to reconcile differences between House and Senate Democrats that could be attached to a budget bill and avoid a Republican filibuster, according to a published report.

The president's proposal, which is still being written, will be posted on the Internet by Monday morning, senior administration officials and Congressional aides told the New York Times.

By piggybacking the legislation onto a budget bill, Democrats would be able to advance the bill with a simple majority of just 51 votes, averting a Republican filibuster in the Senate.

The White House signaled Thursday that an aggressive, all-Democratic strategy for overhauling the nation's health system remains a serious option, even as Obama invites Republicans to next week's televised summit to seek possible compromises.

"It will be a reconciliation bill," the Times quoted a Democratic aide as saying. "If Republicans don't come with any substantial offers, this is what we would do."

The administration's stance could set the stage for a political showdown, with Democrats struggling to enact the president's top domestic priority and Republicans trying to block what many conservatives see as government overreach.

Obama's plan, like the House and Senate bills, would expand coverage to some 30 million, require most Americans to carry insurance or face financial penalties, and block insurers from denying coverage to people with pre-existing medical conditions, the Times reported.

One Capitol Hill Democrat told the Times abortion remains "a wild card."

Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said Thursday that Obama plans to have a health proposal that "will take some of the best ideas and put them into a framework" ahead of the Feb. 25 summit.

Repeals are subject to veto. You know it will be vetoed until at least 2013, and there won’t be enough votes to override a veto. Then it will be too late.

I have not fallen for the democrat media spin, I am only pointing out what that media spin will be and how the democrats wish to use it to their advantage. It’s political chess and I think I see what their moves will be.

If you think the state-run media is going to play it any differently, then you must not be paying attention to how they spin things.

Well, something has to be done, apparently something that has not been done before. We have to elect some business managers into that Congress and run that thing like a business and get it back on track. Pussyfooting around politically is not a viable solution.

The new electees have to be made to understand that they are accountable to the people.

Guess what .

The Dem party media has ZERO credibility anymore.

The Internet killed both the left wing newspapers and national news.

In fact, i don't know anyone who bothers with either anymore. So why bother being scared of what they report. Apparently even lefty Mass voters ignore their propaganda !

““Your money or your life.”

This is the Chicago way. Imagine a business trying to negotiate with another business about a proposed joint venture. Would they publicly pre-announce their intention to steamroller their partner in the event talks regarding the joint venture failed? No, because by definition, that is not negotiating in good faith.

Now imagine the head of a crime syndicate proposing to have a “chat” with you about his organization providing a little “protection” for your family restaurant. Amazingly, just a few days before your sit-down, another family restaurant located in the same block “happens” to burn down. The head of the syndicate calls to remind you about the meeting and says “Gee, it’s a shame about Tony and his restaurant, but I guess it just goes to show why it’s a good idea to get some protection, know what I mean?” I’m sure that the crime boss views this all as a “win-win” situation in which his organization and your restaurant both get something they “need.” But to the average guy on the street, it sort of looks like a shake-down. Know what I mean?

Dear Governor Perry,

On March 30, 2009 the Texas House of Representatives passed HCR 50 affirming that the State of Texas claims sovereignty under the Tenth Amendment.

You have publicly supported this bill, and stated that attorney generals from all over the union could be getting ready to sue the US Government.

We are asking you to take the lead.

We are asking you to order the Texas Attorney General to publicly begin working on a law suit under Article IV, Ninth, and Tenth Amendment of the Constitution.

We are asking you to protect the citizens of Texas that we will not stand for government controlled healthcare in our state.

Under your leadership we can effectively kill the proposal of this administration and allow Texas to be a state free from socialism and collectivism.

Be the voice of reason in the national debate and allow Texans the ability to solve the problems of our state.

Thank you,

The Tenth Amendment (Amendment X) of the United States Constitution, which is part of the Bill of Rights, was ratified on December 15, 1791. Affirming that the State of Texas claims sovereignty under the Tenth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States over all powers not otherwise enumerated and granted to the federal government by the U.S. Constitution, serving notice to the federal government to cease and desist certain mandates, and providing that certain federal legislation be prohibited or repealed.

Feds Have Built Only 32 Miles of 700 Mile Double-Border Fence Originally Mandated by Congress

“One reason DHS has been able to do this is an amendment that Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison (R.-Texas) slipped into an omnibus appropriations bill that Congress passed on December 18, 2007. Hutchison’s amendment put a loophole in the fence law that allowed the secretary of Homeland Security not to build the fence Congress had mandated the year before.”

I do think Americans need to elect a different class of political leader. An example; here in Indiana, Dan Burton faces serious opposition in the primary. One of his opponents, Brose McVey, has some money and organization and is mounting a serious challenge. I looked at his web site and all he touts is his experience in Washington. His site (at least when I last checked) is devoid of any serious discussion of issues. No way he gets my vote. I want an “outsider” not an “insider” if I’m going to change horses.

As to the media, while the circle of people we at FR associate with don’t pay attention to the state run media, and while the state run media don’t have the influence they once did, the state run media still exerts a huge influence over who gets elected to national office. Exhibit A is in the White House. The media also has considerable influence even over who the candidates are. Exhibit B is the guy who finished 2nd in the run for the White House.

The perception in the Beltway is that the state run media sets the tone in national politics, and that perception becomes reality in political strategy. Thus, we will get the political kabuki theater on this monstrosity of health care. The roles and parts in the play have already been scripted, for the most part.

“That is my question. When did the President take over the power from Congress to write bills, and how can his bill be passed by reconciliation?
Why do we need a Congress at all if Obama can just write a bill and get his party to pass it.

Even the Democrats should start balking at the powers this Kenyan poseur is assuming.”

The old USSR dictatorship did not need a “Congress” that had any power. Why does Obama need one?

We sit here fully aware of what is going on, and wring our hands saying, there is nothing we can do about this?

I am going to meet personally this coming week with my US Representative when he comes back on the weekend. He is not above me, and by dam, I am going to get a few minutes of his time. It may not do any good, but at least he is going to know that one old grey head is tired of this crap and isnt going to sit idly by and wring MY hands.

The rest of yas can keep on doing what makes ya comfy.

Does he believe that anyone thinks that the “summit” with the GOP is anything but a dog and pony show for the media? Hell, the man is TELLING us how he plans to ram government health care down our throats with 51 votes! However, the GOP has a strategy for that, too. If government health care is attached to a budget bill, then they can attach an infinite number of amendments to it, all of which have to be debated and voted on.

Article II Section 3:
He (the president) sall from time to time... recommend to their (Congress) Consideration such Measures as he shall judge necessary and expedient.

In practical expereince, the President, or any citizen for that matter, can write a bill, but a Senator or Representative must then sponsor the legislation to have it entered onto the offical calendar for consideration.

Hey here's a clue it's Democrats who are pushing this Healthcare not Republicans.FYI Obama mama is a democrat.

Democrats are the threat. Democrats want to turn the U.S.A. into a socialist state which will cause the economy to fail and turn the American people into starving slaves of the government as in North Korea, Cuba , the old USSR etc.

Republicans have done an excellent job in stopping the Democrat socialist agenda and especially the democrats’ government socialist Healthcare. Republicans were amazingly able to do this against a super majority where Democrats/Marxist had 60% of the Senate, massive majority in the house, the presidency, the mainstream media. Against ALL of these odds the GOP, the Republicans in Congress , have been able to stop the democrats’ and the media's government socialist healthcare. All GOP Senators voted against Government socialist healthcare. All Democrat Senators voted FOR government socialist healthcare. Yet many of you “purists”, you perfect people ( Ha) , you “conservatives” , all of purists you never once thanked the Republicans for this but all you do is bash Republicans and threaten them while never once blaming or mentioning Democrats who are ALL Marxist deceiving villains. If I were a Republican Senator I'd say you threaten me ? well then to hell with you!

All of you “purists” put down the NY times, step away from the DNC, you democrats posing as conservatives or those brainwashed by the liberal media to hate Republicans.

Central government planning/socialism can never work. Imagine if you were placed in control of planning a national economy .First you'd try to divide that problem into smaller problems. Whoa how to do that? how to precisely define or correctly predict what are the smaller problems? Here's a clue:You can't ,no one can, not Einstein, an economist no one. But capitalism created this complex structure of millions people and millions of businesses cooperate to produce and distribute millions of products. Nobody , no government planned this production of consumer products including Kellog's Raisen bran , computers, cell phones, or a pencil. How to determine what is a pencil company, the details of it, how to divide labor into logging companies for the wood for the pencil, rubber companies for the eraser, graphite mining companies, companies that produce saws for the logging company and so on: you see no on planned this as no one could but CAPITALISM(THE FREE MARKET) created all this naturally and without any government money and in spite of high taxes and in spite of government interference(red tape and regulations).

Yeah even now with the model capitalism gave us (logging companies, pencil manufacturing companies, etc) even with this model no small group of people can plan or predict the details of where or how many or how big to make the companies etc. ,.

Imagine if you were placed in control of planning a national economy .First you'd try to divide that problem into smaller problems. Whoa how to do that? how to precisely define or correctly predict what are the smaller problems? Here's a clue:You can't ,no one can, not Einstein, an economist no one. So at this first baby step you are thwarted. Believe me it gets worse in following steps and I'll explain that later. And this is you who WANTS to make it work not some liberal who using someone else's money is more worried about saving the planet than doing what is most economical with someone else's money.

And this "plan" changes all the time with gas stations, convenience stores, restaurants etc. popping up overnight or going out of business if their business is not needed by the free market. So not only could no government idiot plan this government could never react in real time to fix any of the billions of problems that private business owners solve every day as government would need to have each problem go through an application process, red tape and a long approval process.
