Republican politician Mitt Romney was physically threatened by a violent passenger on an Air Canada flight leaving Vancouver this morning.

Many 190’s do have first class seating:

Somehow I just don’t see Mitt as the type of guy that would slug back.
Romney handled this right. The perp in front of his wife was not placing the seat upright for take off. Therefore, that fellow was in the wrong from the beginning.
Romney was also correct in avoiding physical involvement. No matter how emotional the situation, restraint is the best policy unless you (or your wife) are seriously endangered. Mature men can exercise restraint. Hot-heads cannot.
As for the jerk in the story, I fear that the Canadians will go soft with him, as they usually do. He should at the least be banned from flying for about ten years. If he is a non-Canadian, they could ban him from visiting Canada. Canada has a practice of banning undesirables, and they do not even have to state a reason. If you are on their bad list, you don’t get in.
Thanks. It is a fairly small plane but not claustrophobic. Pretty lousy of someone to try to attack Mitt. If he fought back he would be sued.
Very true.
By the way, why shouldn’t one fly coach class on that plane? It is a modest-size aircraft, not crowded, and very pleasant. I have flown that one quite often, and much prefer it to the monster planes with nine passengers across.
The seats don’t really go back that far in those, if I remember correctly.
lulz!
Olbermann?
Ping.. It’s not political, but I couldn’t resist. :)
Brave Sir Robin ran away.
Bravely ran away, away!
When danger reared its ugly head,
He bravely turned his tail and fled.
Yes, brave Sir Robin turned about
And gallantly he chickened out.
Bravely taking to his feet
He beat a very brave retreat,
Bravest of the brave, Sir Robin!
Gov. Romney did not retaliate" said Mr. Fehrnstrom.
Hmmmm.
Were not one of Romney's hitmen around?
Was the target larger than a handicapped child?
Good thing Romney had a FAKE LEO BADGE.
LMHO! Lucky you!
Why didn’t Mitt light this guy up? Somebody takes a swing at me they are going to get tightened up real quick.
So very true. I'd like to see airlines go to non-adjustable seats, given that legroom has been minimized.
But if they think reclining seats are a necessity, design them such that the seat cushion of the person wishing to recline moves forward, allowing the backrest to assume a less vertical angle, with the headrest remaining fixed. That way, the recliner sacrifices his/her own leg room, rather than intruding upon the space of the person behind.
Bravely bold Sir Robin rode forth from Camelot. He was not afraid to die, oh brave Sir Robin. He was not at all afraid to be killed in nasty ways, brave, brave, brave, brave Sir Robin. He was not in the least bit scared to be mashed into a pulp, or to have his eyes gouged out, and his elbows broken. To have his kneecaps split, and his body burned away, and his limbs all hacked and mangled, brave Sir Robin. His head smashed in and heart cut out, and his liver removed, and his bowels unplugged, and his nostrils raped and his bottom burned off and his penis...
