One day after Republican candidate for governor Debra Medina's insurgent campaign hit a speed bump, she's striking back. After comments on Glenn Beck's radio show Thursday that seemed to support 9/11 conspiracy theories, she says she was set up by her opponents.
-snip-
We sat down with Medina to put the comments and her campaign in focus.
It is seemingly all Debra Medina can talk about now.
-snip-
In her news conference Friday, it is clear Medina was trying to clean up the mess. But in our interview with her hours after the Beck radio show, she repeated there are still questions that need to be answered. On Friday, she told reporters she is curious why no New York City police officers died in the towers when so many firefighters did. That's not true, however, as 60 police officers were killed.
We've posted more of our interview with Medina here so you can hear thoughts on 9/11 conspiracies and President Barack Obama's citizenship.

How can Medina, who claims to not be a 9/11 Truther, repeat debunked, false truther claims as legitimate? Not only does she repeat it - she claims it. She says it's a question that she still has about 9/11. Medina is a 9/11 Truther. Her claims to the contrary are ridiculous.
Obviously, Glenn Beck set her up. /sarc
I believe this is the third time that week she repeated that claim. There was another interview the same day as Beck as well where she basically said 9/11 truthers were the same as birthers.
Fire can’t melt steel!!!!11!1!!!

Freepmail me or ping me from the original thread to get on/off the 2010 Texas Gubernatorial Race ping list.
Oh, but wait, she’s not an engineer. So she hasn’t taken a position on that. /sarc
She also stupidly asks why no policemen died on 9/11 when firemen did. She said that Friday.
Next she will say all Jews who worked in the towers stayed home on 9/11
Too bad about her 9/11 beliefs. On the surface she sounded pretty good.
She is trying to spin.
Here in Fort Worth/Dallas that is exactly what they are claiming. I heard them on the radio this morning saying Glenn Beck set up Medina.
Everyone is angry at Beck & no-one understands why he would do that considering the other two candidates.
Why? She never held public office, she only has run one small business that hired her husband, and her entire claim to fame is suing the RNC to block seating delegates in the State convention because Ron Paul lost.
Her statements with things like immigration have 'evolved' over time to fit the audience she is talking to. She also has shown a major ignorance of Texas law.
A lot of people want her simply because she isn't one of the others and they end up projecting their own beliefs on her.
I heard that Jeffery Dahmer was a nice guy too.
Her first mistake was not saying NO the first time on Beck. Regardless of whether or not it was a ‘hit piece’ interview, a lot of people base there opinions of candidates on their first responses. Her second mistake has been to keep talking about this, she should have released her statement and then stopped talking about it. It’s sad, she has some very strong free market positions. I’m still trying to understand why she went on a nationally televised show (Beck) when she seems very opinionated about keeping this primary ‘within the state’.
Is the belief that the government had some foreknowledge of 9/11 more or less dangerous than
the belief that communism/socialism works and is desirable?
Which person are we allowing to be elected and serve to make public policy, and which one are we throwing under the bus as a kook?
It’s a pity—but I really think she is toast. Too bad—because we thought we had a viable alternative to KBH and guv good hair.
Beck didn't zap her with a mind control device to make her give a stupid answer, nor was he there the other times she repeated truther nonsense.
I wish she were that done. Unfortunately, the listeners of a prominent morning talk show in DFW on KLIF (Jeff Bolton, I believe) are calling for Glenn Beck to taken be off KLIF’s programming.
I didn’t hear it personally, but according to reports out this morning, Jeff Bolton said this morning that Debra Medina’s questions were pulled from (or sanctioned by?) the 9/11 Commission Report.
Just where in the 9/11 Commission Report is there a reference to this debunked truther claim of no NYPD officers dying in the WTC?
She blew it.....
She has become a politician instead of taking a stand. Either that or she is dumb as a bucket of hair.
The lady is in a hole with a shovel in her hands and apparently doesn’t know to put it down. She was asked two distinct questions begin with the following which asked for a personal response of her beliefs or actions not some rambling what ifs.
The questions were phrased begining with:
1. Do you believe ........
2. would you disavow them or allow them to continue to advise you........
