Former Vice President Dick Cheney came out in favor of repealing "Don't ask, don't tell," (DADT) today.
Cheney said that the support of military leaders had convinced him that it was time for a change.
"Twenty years ago the military were strong advocates of 'Don't ask, don't tell.' I think things have change significantly since then," Cheney said on ABC's "This Week."
I think that society has moved on. It's partly a generational question," he continued. "When the [Joint] Chiefs come forward and say 'we think we can do it,' is strikes me that it's time to reconsider the policy."

It doesn’t mean I denigrate his other thoughts, but as a free minded person, we can disagree with some and agree with more.
Just to be factually fair (though let me point out that I am adamant that homosexual conduct is sin) I've met any number of straights that yak about getting laid with this or that random partner-of-opposite-sex, to whom they are clearly not married or even long term shacked up.
There is no excuse for Cheney stating this. What an a hole!
Obama is doing this just to demoralize our military. Obama belongs in jail!
one thing I learned in the military and that is you cannot give people a wide berth, their is no privacy what so ever unless you’re an officer or serve in the air force etc
I think some people are missing the point about all of this and not asking the right questions.

The sad part is and what others have pointed out is that we have some folks who have a friend etc who is queer and so they say well they’re alright but they have not really thought of what these people do to each other nor what they want to do with others and now we have some who think this should be open in the military.

because they hear about this and see this on TV in magazines etc and think nothing of it.
as for me wanting to know, well no I do not and if I caught a guy looking at me coming out of the shower or getting to close when in the same sleeping bag then they would know not to do it again , that you can count on.
That is the same for all my friends who have stayed in since I left too, infact like I said earlier i have spoken to some of them about this in the last week or so and I could not even post what they said on here about it.

You're not familiar with lawyers, are you? They're this infection that we have in this country that we can't seem to get rid of.
Consider the case of the sexually predatory sergeant who gives special favors to soldiers who sleep with her and punishes those who reject her advances. Currently, sex segregation makes it nearly impossible for this to be carried out in a heterosexual way.
Under DADT, if this takes place, the line is bright and it is easy to dismiss her for this behavior, because all you have to prove is the homosexual advances or actions.
Without DADT, she becomes a protected class, like Major Hasan. Everyone will be afraid, because of political correctness, to point out what is going on right under their noses. Indeed, she will be able to be as bold as Hasan for that reason alone.
Most are not mentioning this, but if DADT falls, women will not join the military. Lesbians will ensure that the culture is not a comfortable for straight women.
As for men, the balance will not be in favor of gays so the culture will not be in their favor, but there will be a subculture and the protected class behavior will be there.
Think about it. Do you see anyone from either party of this corrupt "Two-Party Cartel" that deserves our vote?

Cheney has never been that much of a social conservative. He has been a hawk and has fought for business interests, but not a social conservative.

The enlisted and NCO corps' worst enemies in this mess with be the general officer corps which will be hell bent to show the liberal Democrat civilian leadership just how gay friendly the military can be. It will be all-gay everyday, 24-7. The lunatics will be in charge. Straight-thinking males and females will leave, be driven out, or learn to "lie" about their true beliefs and hide their opinions about homosexuality and it adverse effects on morale.
The price of "freeing" gays and lesbians to openly flaunt their sexuality in uniform and be "all they can be" will be the wanton destruction of the traditional military ethos that has enabled us to fight and win our wars.
That's a helluva price to pay to mollify three percent of the population.
Do you hear anyone from the Gay lobby proposing a Gay unit to prove a similar point? You don't and you won't because they aren't after equal rights, they are after "special" rights. And "special" rights do not make good for unit cohesion.
