Cheney supports repealing 'Don't ask, don't tell'(Open Gays in the Military)

Former Vice President Dick Cheney came out in favor of repealing "Don't ask, don't tell," (DADT) today.

Cheney said that the support of military leaders had convinced him that it was time for a change.

"Twenty years ago the military were strong advocates of 'Don't ask, don't tell.' I think things have change significantly since then," Cheney said on ABC's "This Week."

I think that society has moved on. It's partly a generational question," he continued. "When the [Joint] Chiefs come forward and say 'we think we can do it,' is strikes me that it's time to reconsider the policy."

I went to bed and missed all of the excitement. If her grammar was indicative of abilities of modern public school graduates our Republic is facing a much more perilous future than I imagined.

I am not just some jerk that disagrees. I will check out the site and read the material.

My mind is not locked-I can be swayed by decent research. However, personal experience over decades has taught me to not judge people i don’t know, and make assumptions about races, genders, etc. based on the actions of a statistically insignificant few.

I believe it is as I am told that by those who go to church.
I do not go to church but I do find it disgusting, the human body was built in a way where a man enjoys a woman and vica versa.
the body functions all have a job to do but that job is not what homosexuals do to each other

it’s just not natural what they do to each other and when one thinks about what they do and one gets past the usual of well I have friends who are and they’re nice then it does make one think that they seriously need mental help if that is the kind of thing what turns them on

I hope you read - scripter has the best resources; some links may no longer work, but if you ask him, he can supply you with sources for all kinds of information.

The information is available; politics has made it not so easy to find.

En route to 2012, many will proclaim that only Romney can win, due to name recognition.

Here's a 54 second youtube clip that to some people, is just devastating to the radical homosexual agenda.

Dr. Robert Spitzer - Homosexuals Can Change

If everybody knew who Dr Spitzer is in the debate on homosexuality, and the video hints a little to his involvement, they would realize just how devastating his comments are here.

We never really got an answer. But, we probably didn’t misunderstand the first time. Before the zot, I looked at the person’s previous posts, and there was another one that was shaky.

But, wagglebee, you’re right - what really matters is where a person stands on the issue. Not what she or he believes herself or himself to be.

You’re hopping to a different claim from the one you made, namely that “gay OK” would give you fair warning about who else in the locker room was gay. I’m saying, no it won’t and there is a trivial reason why. The only way this could possibly be made to work is if they give gays and don’t-cares the opportunity to self identify during enlistment. “Black sheep squadrons” would be created solely from these. All others would be treated as “cares” and would have to abide by DADT, or else either leave or transfer to a black sheep squadron.

I never said "gay OK".

Thanks to Bill Clinton, whether you or I like it or not, gay HAS been "OK" since 1993.

That is the point you are missing.

Thanks to Bill Clinton, HOMOSEXUALS HAVE BEEN LEGALLY SERVING IN THE U.S. ARMED FORCES SINCE 1993.

Maybe, as some have said, this IS a "generational" question.

Maybe I'm just an old geezer.

When I was on active duty for 8 years, back in the days where dinosaurs ruled the Earth and Ronald Reagan was Comander-in-Chief, the DOD policy was "homosexuality is incompatible with military service".

Period.

Military life was simple back then.

Today, only those active duty servicemember with 18 years of military service can still remember a time when homosexuals were NOT legally sharing a common shower with them.

I have absolutely NO experience dealing with LEGAL closet gays in an active duty military setting. When I left active duty, Ronald Reagan was still Commandr-in-Chief.

So, my ranking of list of preferences on this issue, your mileage may vary, is:

1.) The way things used to be back in the Reagan era: "Homosexuality is incompatible with military service".

2.) As long as homosexuals are legally allowed in the military, let's not play games and keep their homosexuality secret.

3.) The way things have been since the Clinton era: "Homosexuality is legally allowed in the military and let's play games and keep their homosexuality secret".

Eagles Wail, when they See a Betrayal

If former Congressman, Secretary of Defense, and Vice President Richard Cheney were to follow his heart, and adhere to common sense — that there should be no homosexuals in the military — a point of truth which every true and unpolluted heart bears witness to, he would also have to conclude that there should be no homosexuals in his own family, for they can do more damage there, than in the military, as you can see.

But he has not fulfilled his first responsibilities in this regard, in being faithful to the well-being of his own daughter, and thus, he has become incapable of remaining faithful to broader security related issues.

As we can see, Dick Cheney has betrayed the security interests of his own daughter’s soul, and thus, when it comes to the soul of America, he has betrayed that too.

Inherent in the homosexual psychology is the spirit of self-destruction, a fact illustrated by the fall of Rome many centuries ago. When people surrender to this equally alien force of homosexual sympathy, they ingest that very same spirit of self-destruction, and that spirit of self-destruction permeates the whole expression of the individual, just as a bottle of ink thrown into a crystal pool, will turn the whole body of water black. And that in a nutshell speaks to the final destination which this broad highway of homosexual sympathy will take our nation. When the spirit of self-destruction becomes the author of public policy, which it already has in many respects, you have a nation, that once knocked down, will not be able to rise again. And that is why Al Qaeda holds their nuclear weapons in reserve, as the ace they will play when America teeters on the edge of the abyss, and needs only that final push, a fall from which it will rise no more.

As Obama is one with the spirit of homosexual sympathy, he is one with the spirit of self-destruction that is inherent in it, and we see that spirit of self-destruction expressed in nearly everything he does. Nearly everything that he desires to do has the effect of compromising our national security. And indeed we do see this spirit of self-destruction transferred, even mouth to mouth, into the hearts and minds of those at the highest echelons of our military leadership, those who have become his loyal and cuddly lap dogs, in the stand that the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs Admiral Mullen and Secretary of Defense Robert Gates have taken, a stand in support of Obama’s homosexual agenda, a stand that will alienate the very people in Congress whose votes they must have to pass the military budgets they request. If the military swallows this homosexual agenda, those friends will no longer come to the table with any passion to fight for their interests. Make no mistake about it, the more fully military leaders open the tap of the homosexual agenda, the more fully do they close the tap of Congressional largesse which depends on the votes of the conservatives in Congress. Their votes alone make the difference between the scarcity that the Democrats would impose, and the abundance that our military needs. Alienate them, and the abundance they are used to receiving since the days of Ronald Reagan, will dry up.

And you can see the very same outcome in the stand that Cheney has taken as well. His traditional base of support has dried up so fast, that in a day, what was a lush forest, like unto Yosemite Valley, has become a barren and parched desert play ground populated only by snakes and scorpions who don't need much water to survive, and certainly have none of their own to give, save the venom that flows freely from their stingers.

Indeed this looks just like another homosexual pride parade marching down main street USA. Obama, Gates, Mullen, and Cheney, with their black leather jackets and their bare bottoms, ready for you know what.

As for Cheney, in expressing his support for the repeal of DADT — a perspective that flows out of this dark cloud of homosexual sympathy which has engulfed his mind, a shadow world traceable to his acceptance of a lesbian as a member of his own family and moreover to his daily betrayal of the security interests of her very soul — it was only a small step for him to betray one of the most important national security responsibilities to which he had dedicated most of his public life, that is, keeping the military honorable, strong, and respectable, and in doing so, he has alienated the only base of political support that he ever had.

Let the homosexuals call him friend now, while those who were once his friends call him traitor. Indeed the homosexuals call him friend with their lips, while we call him a traitor from our hearts. Certainly, that is the spirit of self-destruction made manifest for the whole world to see, when you have made your true and faithful friends into your most passionate and enduring enemies.

No longer can anything that comes out of the mouth of Dick Cheney be taken seriously. Standing aside George W. Bush, we could admire him in his support of an agenda designed to keep America strong. Now, in his support of an agenda that would cut America off at the knees, his appearance on the public stage can never be anything more than a disgrace and a humiliation. Dick Cheney, please go away and hide your face in shame. Not just his mouth has become one with Obama, but his heart as well.

Yes, Benedict Arnold was, at one time, a respected soldier in the cause of American freedom. And for good reason. Indeed, for a time, he fought well. But after the act of betrayal, all the good was swept away and forgotten, as it should be. The lingering character trait of betrayal should never be adorned by the filigree of golden memories. Betrayal corrupts everything.

It’s a serious ding in Cheney’s common sense. The “black sheep squadron” system is the only system I can conceive of where this might be made to work (i.e. self identified gays and other troops who explicitly say they don’t care), and Cheney hasn’t proposed that. Looks like Cheney is compromised to good ole P.C.

...the spirit of homosexual sympathy

We see this all the time on FR in threads discussing legal policy regarding gays. Someone inevitably starts arguing that they have a friend or relative whom they love who is gay, and therefore the gay agenda should prevail. It is misguided, and a misinterpretation of true love, which is a tough love, willing to sacrifice for the sake of the other's soul.

Apparently, Cheney is not born again:

If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.
—Luke 14:26

The term "hate" above can be interpreted as "being willing and able to detach yourself from your relative's influence or values that do not honor God's will" -- even though you are profoundly attached to them biologically or emotionally. This is a true test of Christian conviction.
