Incumbent Republican David Vitter has an even more commanding lead this month over his top Democratic challenger in Louisiana's race for the U.S. Senate. The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of likely voters in the state shows Vitter leading Democratic Congressman Charlie Melancon 57% to 33%. Just three percent (3%) would opt for some other candidate, while seven percent (7%) are undecided.
In January, Vitter led Melancon 53% to 35%. Melancon also trailed Secretary of State Jay Dardenne, who was considering challenging Vitter for the GOP Senate nomination, by a 53% to 31% margin in that poll.

Wasn’t there some porn “star” that was also running for that seat named Stormy Daniels? What happened to her? Perhaps people would much rather have the metaphoric “whore” than a real one?
What ever happened to Stormy Daniels, the porn star who was planning to run?
She’s too pretty to be a pr0n star.
And she looks a little like the FOX News weather chick.
I wish Landrieu were up for re-election this year; she might actually get tossed out on her ample rump. Sadly, she’s not on the ballot again until 2014.
Okay, LOL. What did he do? I read one Freeper say that the guy is quite arrogant, mentioned some airport incident.
Wait a minute! The dems and their syncopants in the media are saying that 2010 will be anti-incumbent, no matter who the incumbent is. Could the dems be wrong? Again?
What losers...voting for that cheat Vetter. Oh well I guess people don’t mind that anymore.
“What losers...voting for that cheat Vetter. Oh well I guess people dont mind that anymore.”
EXACTLY!! When you’re trying to stop a mad-man president, the luxury of having elected people pure as the wind-driven snow goes out the door. At this point the ONLY thing that conservatives (and most independents, as MA showed) care about is the voting record (or expected voting record). And Vitter’s has been PERFECT.
Wow! Thanks for the info.
I think people just realize that politicians, in general, aren't as pure as the driven snow. Personal failings aside, Vitter has been an effective voice in the Senate and has articulated a far more conservative position than many others with an (R) next to their names. In short, he's seen as performing his job well.
Heh... GMTA
Anyone who calls himself “Charles Martel” DEFINITELY thinks like me.
I don’t know what it is about DC: Baucus, Ensign, Gingrich, Armey, Edwards, the list goes on.
There’s a reason why he’s stomping the crap out of Melancon. He has done his job as a senator. He has been accessible to all of his constituents outside of New Orleans unlike the wicked witch of the south. Look at his record.
As far as the hooker issue, this is Louisiana where we tend to be more libertarian in these matters. The DNC and Louisiana Democrat party may try to use it as a campaign tool but it isn’t working this time. Some of us have learned that the D’s don’t force their members to resign.
Just think how different things could have been had some of the solid fiscally conservative and pro Constitution R’s been allowed to serve instead of being forced to resign when they weren’t “perfect”.
Yes he has and he also knows that he serves more than just New Orleans unlike the wicked witch of the south.
