There’s a reason why he’s stomping the crap out of Melancon. He has done his job as a senator. He has been accessible to all of his constituents outside of New Orleans unlike the wicked witch of the south. Look at his record.

As far as the hooker issue, this is Louisiana where we tend to be more libertarian in these matters. The DNC and Louisiana Democrat party may try to use it as a campaign tool but it isn’t working this time. Some of us have learned that the D’s don’t force their members to resign.

Just think how different things could have been had some of the solid fiscally conservative and pro Constitution R’s been allowed to serve instead of being forced to resign when they weren’t “perfect”.

I actually expected this to be tighter. Melancon has been fairly popular for a Dem in a state turning red, but I guess this was probably the wrong year for him. I’m not a fan of Vitter, but he beats the alternative.

I’m reminded of the crooked Democrat Governor, Edwin Edwards’ famous quip that he couldn’t or wouldn’t lose a Louisiana election unless he was “Caught in Bed with a Dead Girl or a Live Boy.” I think the same could be said regarding the electoral chances of Senator David Vitter.
