Vitter succeeded Bob Livingston in the House, so he had the advantage of running in a very conservative congressional district. I remember when he then ran for the Senate seat; there were questions as to whether he could be win a state-wide race to replace John Breaux. IIRC, he won easily. But then, Breaux was a centrist Dem who stood his ground despite the party being dragged to the left.

I just wish Livingston hadn't left his rolodex behind for Vitter to find.

Vitter is an excellent La Senator unlike the other one, landrieu. Chet99 is worried about his personal life and I am sure was worried about clinton, edwards and the million other politician cheaters.
What matters today is fiscal responsibility. The country will be bankrupt soon with landrieu , o’dumbo,reid and pelosi.
Go Vitter. I will vote for you again and think you do a great job on the only thing that will save this county from collapse.
