But I thought only disgruntled armed-forces veterans shot innocent people!
[/sarc]
She was carrying a gun BEFORE she learned?
Pre-meditated *just in case*?
And this cretin was teaching our children???????????
Prayers going up for those who were shot.
There is also a man in custody (a second suspect).
Shocking that is was a woman!
>>This will not look good on a resume.

>Nope! But I bet she can get a job stamping licence plates for fifteen cents an hour.
With our current criminal cadre of congress [and the Executive & Judicial branches] I wouldn’t be utterly surprised [outraged, yes] to learn she receives a full pardon and a cabinet position. [/cynic]
I have heard of tenure all of my life, but I really don’t understand it. I know there is probably a raise involved and some kind of guarantee of not getting fired, but what else is so great about it?
Another gun-free zone experiences peace and happiness.
I think this campus is where the EIB climate expert works.
I was going to say that she’s unlikely to get tenure now, but I’ve been beaten to it about ten times.
I suspect this is someone who worked like hell to get an advanced degree in biology, which isn’t easy, and after failing to get tenure just didn’t know what she would do next with her life.
Times are especially tough in academia right now. Job openings are scarce, money is short, and she probably figured she had wasted her whole life for nothing.
Perhaps she applied for positions at other schools in case she didn’t make tenure, but got no offers.
Just speculation. But it’s that time of year, when hiring and tenure decisions are being announced.
Prayers for family and friends of the victims.
Personally I would try harder and wait for next year when I would ace it!
Been wondering what happened to the ex.
Doesn’t work like that. Tenure is only offered after you’ve
been on the faculty and have taught for usually three years.
The staff who has tenure in your department makes the decision
to give or not give tenure. In that sense, you have to prove
to them that you are one of them.
Once granted tenure, it is almost impossible to be fired.
They’re building a Shelby Center for Math & Science here at the University of So. Alabama.....
My 16 year old son was murdered with a 4 x 4 fence post, when are they going to do something about EVIL fence post?
BTW this is why I CCW now. Spent 16.5 years keeping the creep in prison, had to fight for every day he served...7 parole hearings, first just TEN MONTHS after he was sentenced...took 2 years to get to a 20 year lousy plea bargain.
Idiot.
Technical fields can be obsolete in 20 or 25 years.
Academic training at the beginning of a career no longer suffices till retirement.
Very likely, portable Internet based training programs that are arising now will grow in prestige and continue to get cheaper until the aging university system collapses. Much the way Internet news is killing newspaper and magazines.
Death penalty case.
